General Purpose:

Perform operations including but not limited to fluid product receiving, product load out, and product supply or transfer to production processes. Other operational duties include clean-in-place (CIP) and clean--out-of-place (COP) gaskets and master sanitation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sample all incoming raw milk tankers for the purpose of performing quality testing as necessary
  • Review and maintain records pertaining to "General Laboratory" requirements for an Appendix N Drug Residue screening site as required by the dairy industry
  • Understand, follow, and complete all Charm SL3, Sulfa & Tetra procedures and documentation set forth by the FDA Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, meeting Michigan Department of Agriculture regulatory agency supervision
  • Scale tankers in/out; complete documentation as required
  • Load/unload raw milk tankers; complete documentation as required
  • Receive fluid products, check storage silos, observe product flow into and out of storage silos, and respond to any problems
  • Complete and maintain Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) record keeping such as completing charts and sanitation sheets
  • CIP all bulk tankers; perform manual cleaning as necessary. Complete all related documentation including wash tag PMO requirements
  • CIP raw milk silos and receiving line circuits as required; perform manual cleaning as necessary. Complete all related documentation including CIP charts PMO requirements
  • Check, fill and monitor CIP day-tanks and CIP systems as necessary
  • Communicate with separator operators as required
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and Master Sanitation Schedule tasks as necessary
  • Minimize water usage and the generation of wastewater within the scope of the position

  • Understand fully product flow from the milk silos to packaging department
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly at designated intervals
  • Ensure all recording charts are properly documented according to company and regulatory regulations
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the facility and common areas
  • Anticipate problems, implement solutions, and look for continuous improvement/process improvement opportunities
  • Safeguard and protect all company assets and proprietary information
  • Assume responsibility for the attainment of plant goals and objectives. Make decisions in a timely manner
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships and communications with employees from all other departments and peers
  • Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

  • Promptly and accurately perform all necessary entries into the SAP system
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining the following programs: Pre-Operational Checklists, Post-Operational/CIP Checklists, and Master Sanitation Schedules
  • Submit accurate and complete documentation to the shift supervisor. Accurately note deviations
  • Perform limited maintenance as defined per the MSS or as required, including but not limited to inspection, cleaning, and entering maintenance work requests into the SAP system
  • Assist in the training and development of new operators

  • Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
  • Follow all Dairy Farmers of America procedures and practices: Safety, Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP)
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

  • Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
