Position Summary:The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance of plant equipment and structures in a safe and efficient manner in order to produce the highest quality product at optimum cost and minimum downtime. This position has project management responsibility for the design, development and management of major capital projects. Will manage and oversee the activities and operations of the Maintenance department to include planning, design and repair of maintenance equipment ensuring optimization, safety, efficiency and compliance.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversee maintenance associate activities, including scheduling, parts procurement, expenditure approvals, performance reviews, company policy enforcement and monitoring of routine contractor services
  • Manage maintenance performance against plant KPI’s
  • Source and negotiate with outside vendors for execution of maintenance work
  • Prepare Capital Appropriation Request packages to present and obtain project approvals
  • Provides leadership, direction and training to maintenance technicians for basic maintenance and repairs on conveyors, packaging equipment, production equipment, electrical control systems and other related plant systems
  • Manage capital projects; including assessments to identify solutions to meet productivity, quality and safety goals
  • Review monthly expenditures for accuracy and opportunities for cost savings
  • Assure that all equipment documentation is up to date and that the documentation of Maintenance Technicians is accurate and complete, PM work orders are correctly completed as scheduled and all documentation supports current SQF audit requirements
  • Conducts routine walk-throughs and inspections of production equipment and facilities and provides feedback, concerns and recommendations for improvement to the Plant Manager and Production Manager
  • Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA. Assures associates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of training and work experience
  • Five years of maintenance related work experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment
  • Excellent leadership, management, and problem solving skills
  • Strong operational background with emphasis on production project procurement, design and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of high speed packaging equipment, such as weighing systems, food detection systems, X-rays and laser sorters. Preferred knowledge of food processing equipment including dry-roasters and oil roasters.
  • Knowledge and understanding of preventative maintenance and repairs of hydraulics, motors, pumps, and gearboxes, blueprint reading and electrical schematics
  • General PLC concepts
  • Knowledge of regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as FDA, OSHA, and EPA
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing/Six Sigma
  • SAP experience preferred
Physical Requirements:

Standing for long periods of time; lifting up to 50lbs.; exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection. Exposure to and or use of tools and/or work activities that may require various forms of PPE.
