Material Control Manager is responsible for acting as a liaison between Division Production Planning, Purchasing, Marketing, Logistics and Manufacturing. This effort includes providing production scheduling, securing/purchasing raw materials, stockroom management, product customization, direct customer shipments and optimizing the plant’s role in all supply chain initiatives. Effective management of production scheduling, inventory control, MRO purchasing, receiving and line support, raw material warehousing, stockroom, and the finished goods shipping and storage operations are key to efficient utilization of RPD’s plant resources. In addition, this position is required to assist in setting the direction for the future growth and margin contribution of the Division Materials Management organization and to provide direction, management expertise and resources to satisfy customer requirements and delivery expectations.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Responsible for ensuring compliance to GMP’s and OSHA’s regulatory requirements to assure quality products while setting up systems to prevent any violations of these requirements and guidelines. Responsible for ensuring /maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsible for providing a comprehensive system for recall or withdrawal of finished product which can account for every unit shipped.
Directly responsible for the development and achievement of the Material Control and stockroom budgets, and assists in the development and achievement of the Freight and Distribution budget and in the effective management of transportation activities and budgets. Effectively manage the raw material monthly inventory budget to meet production demand while minimizing capital investment without incurring opportunity cost.
Develop and negotiate agreement and manage annual inventory plans which minimize capital investment, efficiently operate manufacturing facilities and facilitate optimal customer service.
Coordinate the annual development of long range plans and provide strategic leadership to the department and Division.
Source and manage the development, issuance and processing of all plant purchase orders while providing expertise in administering all corporate and Division purchasing policies. Provide order management for total raw material purchases.
Provide global customer service through accurate order processing, customization and timely delivery of finished products and services to Abbott international warehouses and affiliates.
Provide expertise and interface with regulatory agencies, especially US Customs in interpretation of complex import/export issues.
Negotiate timing of promotional plans to optimize production schedule. Effective utilization of the plant’s human and capital resources through collaboration, communication, negotiation and efficient production planning and scheduling.
Responsible for leading Material Control and Inventory staff across a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation. Ensure an environment conducive to fair and impartial employee relations and support diversity initiatives. Conducts performance reviews; develops growth plans; interprets implements and supports employee-related policies, procedures and programs. Assigns projects/tasks to direct staff. Assures compliance to all procedures and policies concerning all areas of quality, regulatory, safety and human resources for all departments.
Provide purchasing and receiving support to all plant departments. Assure that released commodities in the proper quantities are staged for production. Failure can result in product batch destruction.
Responsible for assuring that Quality Assurance directives regarding product’s shipping status be effectively managed. Failure to comply with such directives can result in product recalls.
Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering. Masters Degree Preferred. APICS Certification preferred.
Five years’ experience in Materials Management, two years’ experience in Distribution, two years’ experience in Inventory Management, three years’ experience in Warehouse Management with a minimum eight years total combined experience required (not necessarily the sum of the above). The position requires sound business skills and judgment. An understanding of Manufacturing, Accounting, Quality, Logistics, Customer Service and Materials Management principles and practices are needed to give effective direction to reporting departments and professional advice to colleagues and superiors. Analytical problem solving skills required. Demonstrated experience in collaboration, communication, and negotiating skills is also required.
Accountable for the expense, payroll, and capital budgets. Failure to accurately meet the Division’s needs could result in unbalanced inventories, missed customer deliveries, or missed sales which all can unfavorably impact the Division’s profitability. Assist in the development and achievement of the Freight and Distribution budget. Assist in the effective management of transportation activities and budget responsibilities. Effectively manage the raw material monthly inventory budget to meet production demand while minimizing capital investment without incurring opportunity cost.
Responsible for assuring that Quality Assurance directives regarding product’s shipping status be effectively managed. Failure to comply with such directives can result in product recalls. The Materials Manager is responsible for providing all raw materials and operating supplies for our manufacturing processes.
Responsible for the accuracy and safekeeping of all raw materials and finished goods inventory departments
The Materials Manager reports to the Site Director.
