Job Description:

Job Description: Responsible for the planning and procurement of components to meet production requirements. Manages inventory, develops target quantities, and minimizes total inventory expense while meeting required finished part service goals.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Reviews production schedules, product formulations, MRP data, system demand reporting, and inventory reports to compute the quantities needed for efficient operation of factory as well as exceptional delivery performance for customer orders.
  • Executes MRP for materials and issues purchase orders to ensure material availability for Operations
  • Communicates component conflicts, delays or issues, while also working to develop solutions with suppliers and internal resources.
  • Reviews and assists to resolve invoicing discrepancies in SAP
  • Maintains files such as inventory records and delivery performance reporting in order to identify trends and seek opportunities for improvement in inventory levels, service, and transportation efficiency
  • Ensures inventory cycle counts of components and ingredients are completed and necessary reconciliations occur
  • Initiates contact and confers with suppliers as necessary to insure acceptable delivery performance. Initiates complaints and takes action to resolve as needed should quality or delivery failures occur
  • Manages transition of components related to reformulations, redesigns, new product introductions, and item discontinuation. Interacts with R&D, Procurement, Scheduling, Sales Planning, Suppliers, and Category Planners to plan and execute smooth transitions
  • Maintain target inventory levels and actual inventory level data using physical counts, supplier reports, material usage reports and software tools in order to prepare for anticipated demand and/or appropriately recommend cost-reducing inventory actions to management
  • Assists with front desk responsibilities including managing phone calls and visitors
  • Use SAP to track and receive orders
  • Coordinates purchasing of non-maintenance supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Strong computer skills including knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office and SAP/ERP experience.
  • Possess ability to deal easily and effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational/time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong multitasking, analytical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpretive, analytical and math skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively present information in verbal exchanges with various departments and employees.


High School or equivalent

Minimum Experience Preferred:

Three to five years related experience in purchasing/materials planning is strongly preferred. Experience with SAP ERP environment is advantageous.

Travel Requirements: Minimal.
