SUMMARY: The Contract Manufacturing Commercialization Manager ensures external production capacity, capability, and delivery meet Mizkan America requirements for two business units: Vinegar; Sauce. The position also transitions products from external to internal production and vice-versa.

The scope of responsibility extends from identifying and vetting potential CoMans to negotiating contracts to managing ongoing performance against key business metrics. Responsibilities include support of product commercialization for internal and external projects as appropriate based on work load. Key skills include procurement, project management, negotiation, and communications. Critical to success is the ability to collaborate with individuals across departments and business units to deliver successful projects.


  • Understand the ingredient, processing, quality, and packaging requirements for new products.
  • Identify CoMan candidates and evaluate them in a consistent and cost-effective manner against requirements for procurement, quality, processing, planning and forecasting, logistics, and cost control.
  • Successfully negotiate contracts with CoMans that incorporate requirements for quality, cost, and timing in partnership with Mizkan America legal department.
  • Successfully deliver new product launches within required time, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Successfully achieve ongoing production requirements within required time, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Identify savings opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Manage relationships with CoMans including required documentation, audits, production forecasts, production schedules, and operations performance.
  • Standardize performance metrics across CoMans and regularly report status in order to rank CoMan performance and provide necessary direction.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with internal and external partners to ensure production orders are delivered on time and in full with little drama.
  • Conduct evaluations of internal vs. external manufacturing capacity, capability, and economics as required, including capital requirements, labor requirements, and logistics requirements.
  • Transition projects from external to internal production and vice-versa as required.
  • Able to travel outside Mount Prospect approximately 50% including internationally.


  • BS degree in relevant discipline (engineering, science, operations, etc.)
  • Minimum five years of operations experience in a food processing / manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of operations, quality, supply chain methodologies. Production management experience preferred.
  • Contract negotiation and procurement experience.
  • Project Management skills. PMP preferred.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects, priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with and across all levels of the organization (plant personnel and management).
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Strong organizing, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Must be motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be adaptable with a willingness to work enthusiastically with constantly changing priorities.
  • Effective communicator, both spoken and written, including presentation skills.
