Overview
Our client is a producer of Specialty Chemicals and Ingredients used by manufacturers of Food, Nutritional, Pharmaceutical, and Cosmetic/Personal Care products. We are looking to hire a Technical Services Manager who will manage 3 to 6 Technical Service Representatives across the USA. Some of the primary market segments are human nutrition (bars, beverages, gummies, and supplements), dairy, confections, bakery, fruit preps, and savory. Work from home and travel on occasion to assist salesmen with their sales calls at customer locations. For now, due to the pandemic, overnight travel will be minimal. You may live anywhere in the Eastern 2/3rds of the USA for this job. Candidates must be fully vaccinated against Covid 19 to qualify for this role.


Duties / Responsibilities:
• Provide guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to the Technical Service reps
• Define, set, and review goals with the Technical Service reps
• Provide superior technical support to core and strategic customers and to the sales force
• Drive, monitor and report internally on the Opportunity Pipeline and win rate
• Prepare quarterly reports on activities with customers
• Work on strategic initiatives with the Americas Sales Director
• Work closely with Regional and Strategic Marketing on Direct Account focused initiatives
• Monitor and stimulate growth in key market segments
• Along with Sales and Marketing, provide input on customers, market trends, and sales opportunities


Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree is required. Specific degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemical Engineering is desired. MBA would be considered a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years experience working for a company that makes and/or sells value-added functional Food Ingredients is required
• Self-motivated and having the initiative to carry out projects from inception to finish or drive team initiatives from beginning to end.
• Superior Project Management skills (planning, prioritization, deadline, and result oriented)
• Experience managing a team and ability to delegate while inspiring and motivating team members
• Good communication and language skills. Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to travel to customers to fulfil the needs of the role (approx 50% of work time)
• Good interpersonal and public speaking skills for handling customer enquiries, product/concept presentations and trainings. Working knowledge in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Some financial and business acumen skills are required
