Our corporate Supply Chain team in Denver, Colorado is seeking a Manager of Global Transportation. Will you turn your passion for supply chain and logistics into impact by leading our corporate transportation team?

Responsibilities

  • Oversee responsibility for leading all operational aspects of the transportation function and the Global Transportation Team.
  • Accountable for development and delivery of strategies to improve customer service effectiveness and cost optimization.
  • Report to the Director, Global Transportation and assist in the active management of all 3rd party common carrier and broker relationships (domestic and international shipping vessels), which encompasses both temperature controlled and ambient freight.
  • Support all company managed transportation. This includes full truckload, less than truckload (LTL), rail plus truck (intermodal), boxcar, port drayage, ocean freight and air transport. Transportation has an active role in inbound deliveries, plant-to-plant and plant-to-warehouse transfers, and customer deliveries.
  • Have a strong understanding across all modes of transportation (truck, rail, and ocean) as well as domestic and international.
  • Support the ongoing efforts to foster the principles of LFC quality by maintaining an exceptional commitment to customer service, product quality, business ethics, leadership, and employee engagement.
  • Measure transportation carriers against customer service and quality performance metrics. Lead improvement and development programs for applicable transportation carriers in this area.
  • Support the strategy to improve operational effectiveness and delivery of cost reduction while supporting ongoing global business expansion into new global markets.
  • Support in the management of all 3rd party common carriers and broker relationships (both domestic and international).
  • You will have direct accountability for leading all domestic rail transportation used to pre-position inventory from the West Coast, into the Midwest and Eastern US regions.
  • Drive timely and efficient delivery of all Leprino managed freight.
  • Streamline freight claims and carrier invoice payment process through process documentation and systematic improvements.
  • Work with other supply chain team members to help drive the analysis of our network and identify freight savings opportunities.
  • Ensure all 3rd party carriers are set up proactively for flawless execution in order management, on-time delivery, reporting, EDI and invoicing.
  • Facilitate communication and direction between business partners in planning, transportation, and warehousing, regarding carrier service capabilities.
  • Lead transportation sourcing initiatives and deliver identified cost optimization targets.
  • Lead negotiations and implementation of all transportation carrier contracts.
  • Work with the other stakeholders and systems teams to create exception reports that will drive proper financial decisions within the team.
  • Track and understands inbound damage incident rates and work to identify best practices and SOP’s related to intra-company shipments.
  • Execute a successful freight claim policy with the 3rd party carriers and monitor the financial impact and performance.
  • Responsible for the leadership and professional development of seven Global Transpiration/Traffic Coordinators all managing an average of 2000 orders in motion at any given time.

Qualifications

You Have (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or a related degree.
  • At least 6 years in global transportation management (must have both domestic and international experience), end-to-end supply chain management, inventory management, project management, procurement, and plant operations.
  • At least 1 year in leading/mentoring direct reports.
  • Must have knowledge in FTL, LTL, Rail, Ocean, and Air Freight.
  • Experienced user in ERP and transportation management systems.

We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • MBA
  • Extensive SAP experience
  • 8 years of experience in global transportation management within the food manufacturing industry.
  • 2 years in a leadership position (supervisor or manager) managing direct reports.
