In addition to being responsible for maintenance core responsibilities, this position is responsible to perform the following tasks:

  • PLC programming
  • HVAC
  • Set-up and operation of: Bartelt 1&2 dry pouch line, HMC dry pouch line, dry bottle line, canister fill and lidder line, seasoning & masa-pack, circular pack machine, process skid-shot line and sucralose fill.
  • Electrical wiring
  • Welding
  • Plumbing
  • Checking and documenting parts inventory
  • Checking-adjusting checkweighers
  • Checking-adjusting dump scales (crisp/cereal line)
  • Training machine operators in troubleshooting and care of equipment used.
  • Ability to perform repairs to the following: Bartelt 1&2 dry pouch line, HMC dry pouch line, dry bottle line, canister fill and lidder line, seasoning & masa-pack, circular pack machine, process skid-shot line and sucralose fill.

Core Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing preventive maintenance tasks as indicated by the CMMS (FIXX) schedule.
  • Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer&##39;s instructions and engineering specifications as required to complete tasks.
  • Use calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments to complete tasks assigned.
  • Fabricate repair parts as required, using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Use forklifts and scissor lifts, following appropriate safety protocols.
  • Submit supply requests-identifying specific parts.
  • Selection and use of appropriate lubricants per application.
  • Utilize millwright skills as necessary to fulfill repair and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Utilize listening skills, precision measuring and testing instruments in locating problems and in operation.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling equipment; using hoists, cranes and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Inform the Production Manager and scheduling functions of routine preventive maintenance activities as they impact production areas.
  • Inform facility management if any repairs or maintenance pose a potential threat to product safety (i.e. pieces of electrical wire, damaged light fittings and loose overhead fittings).
  • When possible, conduct maintenance outside processing times.
  • Provide maintenance information, answering questions and requests.
  • Prepare maintenance documentation of activities. This may involve collecting, analyzing, summarizing and trending information.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and interacting with contracted service technicians.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Comply with the personnel and process hygiene requirements (GMPS) (refer to SQF elements 11.3.1 thru 11.3.4) for maintenance staff and contractors.
  • Remove all tools and debris from any maintenance activity once it has been completed and inform the area supervisor and maintenance supervisor so appropriate hygiene and sanitation can be completed prior to the commencement of facility operations.
  • Any paint used in a food handling or contact zone shall be suitable for use and in good condition and shall not be used on any product contact surface.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time.
The employee must be able to work near food manufacturing machinery.
Work Environment:

Task assignments are predominantly indoors, however, some outdoor projects may occur. This position may travel between the main production facility as well at the neighboring Distribution Center in performing tasks. Both are indoor environments which may have wet floors, humid and/or dusty conditions. The ambient noise level does not currently require the use of ear plugs, although these are available. Facility regularly processes known food allergens.
