SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Supervisor is a member of the Supervisor Team in the Maintenance Department. This Supervisor has leadership responsibilities over all maintenance employees assigned to the team. This Supervisor coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings, and grounds by performing the following duties at the Mizkan Deming Plant in New Mexico:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs workers engaged in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, equipment, and furnishings of buildings.
  • Directs technicians engaged in diagnosing and replacing faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Provide customer service and work tactfully, harmoniously, and effectively with management, customers, vendors, contractors and/or visitors.
  • Maintains 5S methodology in all work areas.
  • Directs workers assisting other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the safety of all mechanics.
  • Manages a team of Facilities, Electrical and Mechanical technicians.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization&##39;s policies and applicable laws.
  • Sets priorities for team and ensures accountability.
  • Interviews, hires, trains and retains employees.
  • Plan, assigns, and directs work.
  • Appraises performance and provides feedback.
  • Rewards and disciplines employees.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50+ pounds. Work Environment: Employee is regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, varying weather conditions, heat and cold, noise, and risk of electrical shock.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing facilities maintenance preferred.
  • Experience working in liquid fill or other consumer packaging.
  • Must have ability to work with all levels of employees and experience in the organization.
  • Must be well organized, results oriented, and have effective troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Must have strong leadership and team building skills.
  • Must be computer literate: MS Office Programs; AX is desirable.
  • Must have proven good judgment and sound reasoning skills.
  • Must have a strong floor presence and be able to interact effectively with people at all levels.
  • Bilingual English Spanish preferred.
