Job Responsibilities

  • Read and analyze conceptual design and assembly prints of PLC controlled custom built automated machines.
  • Fabricate parts, fit and assemble components according to engineered drawings and specifications.
  • Set up and operate metalworking machines to fabricate or modify parts as required.
  • Accurately lay out holes locations and drill / tap holes on machine frames and tooling mounting plates.
  • Align components for assembly and assemble mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic parts and actuators using hand tools.
  • Form and install pneumatic and hydraulic lines, valves, fixtures and attachments required to service machine with compressed air, water and oil. Install sensors, electrical actuators and other electrical components.
  • Debug assemblies and machines by identifying and correcting problems affecting proper operation. Assist electrical engineers in troubleshooting various electrical components and systems of the machine.
  • Take an active leadership role during the debug phase of the project. Recommend improvements and optimization of the automated production machines and processes, collaborate with machinery design and control systems engineers to implement the improvements and modifications.
  • Provide assistance and training for the maintenance department employees.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with fabrication and maintenance of PLC controlled custom automated assembly and packaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of conveyors, chain drive systems, rotary tables, vibratory feeder systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors and controllers, valves, sensors, relays, pneumatic plumbing, basic electrical wiring.
  • Knowledge of automated machinery control systems, PLC’s, HMI’s.
  • Experience working with pneumatic and electrical actuators and associated components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and machine drawings.
  • Experience in running machine shop equipment and using hand tools.
