Job Description

The Maintenance Manager will direct, and coordinate activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of the industrial plant, mill, or another establishment. This person will coordinate and supervise the maintenance responsibilities delegated to the entire maintenance department to ensure the continuous production of operations and that quality objects established by management, regulatory programs and project plans are met.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and supervise the responsibilities delegated to self and other members of the maintenance department.
  2. Reviews job orders, schedules repairs, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in a prioritized manner to ensure continuous operation of the facility.
  3. Develops and maintains preventative maintenance program.
    1. Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards
    2. Review production, quality and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities
  4. Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations (with approval from management). Prepare budget and monitor expenditures for department. Create and submit purchase orders and invoices along with other documentation as required.
  5. Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and material.
  6. Confer with management, engineering, and quality personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines, equipment and facility.
  7. Review new and existing product plans and discuss equipment needs and modifications with other department managers and plant manager.
  8. Assist Management in effective employee relations to include but not limited to training, discipline, scheduling employees in accordance to policies and employment laws.
  9. Evaluations, development or revision of standard operational procedures and working practices. Observe employees to ensure compliance with those standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or Equivalent Maintenance Management Experience
  • Excellent PC skills and strong mathematical proficiency
  • Two to five years of supervisory experience with a diverse employee population
  • Strong people management, communication, motivational, and customer service skills
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred not required
  • Familiarity with Safety and Food Safety programs
