Build a better future as a Laboratory Technician for our vegetable oil refinery in Louisville, KY. The Laboratory Technician is involved with the successful daily operation of the plant and laboratory. This ensures the superior quality of our product and a safety-first work environment. This requires collaboration and communication with plant managers, operators, supervisors, and quality control technicians. Work is documented thru entries onto sheets and books specified for each department. Lab employees shall set an example, by demonstrating a commitment to quality, and customer needs at all times.

Your responsibilities include:

Individual special technician is required to carry out all the above duties and is also responsible for the following activities:

  • Performs calibrations on the ABB FTIR, and document the calibration
  • Performs calibrations on the Perkin Elmer FTIR, and document the calibration
  • Enter sCOAs for special oils and projects
  • Analyzes special oils and oils that have received CSIs.
  • Runs searches, pull data, and analyze data on palm oil from excel.
  • Correlates data from all departments, enter them into excel and organize the data into spreadsheets and graphs.
  • Analyzes all oils for OSI and convert to AOM by using the oxidative stability instrument.
  • Coordinates with departments on HEAR oil and Sefose and ensure data entry.
  • Conducts plant food safety inspections.
  • Participates in audits (ISO 9001, BRC, customer audits)
  • Participates in the AOCS LPP series for Palm, Edibles, and Soybean oil (NOLs)
  • Reviews COAs from suppliers for incoming oils and ensure they meet our specifications.
  • Enters and reports the monthly and yearly reports.
  • Runs standards for RI and PV daily.
  • Develops, maintains, and runs melt point standards.
  • Trains new employees in all aspects of the job
  • Sends out crude and shell drain samples for analysis.
  • Runs SFI as needed on special projects.
  • Obtains crude samples from scale house
  • Assists production in troubleshooting quality issues.

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biology or related field
  • 3+ years laboratory experience, ability to communicate well with others, computer skills, and Math and computation ability.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US, now and in the future, without sponsorship
