Job Title: Laboratory Manager
Location: Ogden

Reports To: Director of Quality Services
Shift: Day & On-call as required

Overview: Responsible for leading the development and implementation of all policies, processes, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and organizational effectiveness in management of the Quality Control (QC) Laboratory.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with established regulations, company policies and procedures, Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), and ISO 17025 Accreditation requirements.
  • Provide structure, stability and direction for QC Laboratory operations and personnel, ensuring optimal efficiency in testing, reporting, and final approval processes.
  • Measure performance against established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), thereby consistently ensuring timely and accurate testing, reporting, and release.
  • Ensure that personnel are adequately trained and following established safety procedures.
  • Cross-functional liaison working closely with Production, Product Development, Purchasing, Planning and Sales departments.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Quality Services.


Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in scientific discipline required.
  • Masters degree in scientific discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a QC laboratory, with at least 3 years in personnel leadership.
  • Experience in the nutraceutical or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of concepts underlying analytical analyses and experiments, including wet chemistry techniques and instrumental analyses.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with others.
  • Skill in coordination and execution against specific priorities.
  • Familiar with ISO 17025 Accreditation requirements.
  • Experience reviewing out of specification (OOS) investigations and making disposition decisions.
  • Expertise in method verification and validation activities.
  • Develop and manage budget plans and forecasts and manage and control lab testing cost.
  • Computer literate. Experience with LabVantage LIMS software preferred.
  • Work autonomously with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create required technical documents.
  • Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.


Work Conditions

  • Subject to normal office environment, but must occasionally enter production areas, which may include the following conditions:
    • High noise levels
    • Dust, fumes and odors
    • Subject to various means of business travel (planes, trains, busses, automobiles)
