The Journeyman Electrician performs the installation and repair of complex electrical systems, conductors and associated materials in related projects. The Journeyman Electrician ensures that all work is performed to the highest standards and meet all safety requirements in the performance of the work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily preventive maintenance of electrical circuits.
  • Install new electrical circuits.
  • Bend and install electrical conduit following all appropriate local and national codes.
  • Responsible for maintenance, inspections, and modification of electrical equipment, technologies and processes.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors and equipment controls.
  • Help plant production personnel troubleshoot production problems.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Understand and troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Understand three phase motors, transformers, and control circuits.
  • Understand and comply with NEC electrical standards and codes.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol
    • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
    • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
    • Support safety policies and programs.

Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of formal technical training required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum one (1) year of journeyman&##39;s experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures from blueprints, schematics and sketches or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing plant required; food and/or fluid dairy manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with 4-20mA control Loops, Motor Control Centers utilizing voltages from 120vac to 480vac, and Variable Frequency Drives required.
  • Experience with forklift repair required.
  • Experience with Columbia Okura Robotic Palletizing preferred.
  • Knowledge/ Ability to read and understand electrical prints required.

Certification/Licensure Required:

  • State Master&##39;s Electrician or Journeyman&##39;s Electrician license required.
  • Forklift Certification required.

  • Basic math plus fractions, decimals and percentages, as well as algebraic calculations.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook and field-specific software.
  • Follow written, verbal and/or diagrammatic instructions; solve practical problems; interpret verbal and written instructions; logical thinking to solve problems including abstract and concrete variables; address practical problems and comprehend most complex concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and work to maintain constructive working relationships.
