IT Systems Administrator

Job Summary:

Responsible for the overall information system&##39;s function. Provides a broad range of technical support and systems administration for the network and technology systems. Responsible for infrastructure including cabling, switches, firewalls and routers, data security, telecommunications, and IT resources. This role will also respond to escaladed tier 2 helpdesk tickets. Pompeian offers a competitive benefit package including paid medical and dental premiums and 401K matching opportunities.


  • Install, configure, and support the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), VPN, switches and firewall
  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers
  • Maintain network, hardware and software
  • Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network and application availability
  • Research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software.
  • Responsible for network-based telecommunications within the facilities
  • Determine user requirements and design specifications for computer hardware
  • Update software applications
  • Provide support for end users
  • Deploy servers, firewalls, switches, and all host security systems
  • Plan and implement server/network upgrades and changes
  • Document any changes within the infrastructure
  • Available for after-hours support
  • Maintenance of hand-held terminal scanners
  • Perform all other duties as assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with any of the following certifications: A+, Network+, Security+, and/or CCNA
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, including hands-on support experience with networks, servers and desktops
  • Must be familiar with Windows Server
  • Knowledge/experience in hardware/software installation and configuration (both servers and PCs)
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN/VPN administration
  • Knowledge of SQL is a plus
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledgeable with Microsoft Windows and Office applications
  • Ability to maintain the data integrity in the organization&##39;s systems and strict confidentiality of information
  • Effective project and task management skills that include the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, gather facts, exercise sound judgment in problem solving, decision making, and facilitating solutions
  • Ability to train and instruct others
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Reach around, bend down, and reach over and under equipment to install and maintain equipment
  • Willingness and self-initiative to keep up with new developments in technology
  • Must be a team player and work with others in a helpful, respectful and courteous manner
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision
  • Must be self-motivated, extremely organized and have good planning abilities
