Innovation Sensory Technologist

The Innovation Sensory Technologist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct consumer testing – utilizing Sensory methods, Sensory tools and statistical evaluation to report results that help to guide R&D projects
  • Analyze and interpret sensory data, including generating statistical results and graphs for completed sensory data
  • Ability to listen and identify project objective and develop research plan
  • Must have excellent communication skills including ability to write concise, informative reports and verbally present complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Coordinate between Sensory teams the validation and smooth transition of products from R&D to Production
  • Conduct regular events and tests to refresh current panelists on profiles and introduce new products
  • Develop focused Sensory panels – including developing new methods and bringing new method into the company
  • Conduct the assessment and validation of new products
  • Making presentations on sensory evaluation to professional organizations and/or continuing education programs / seminars
  • Staying current with literature and information about sensory evaluation
  • Continue development and assessment of research and implement new sensory methods
  • Promotes high product quality sensorial achievements within a professional work environment

Technical Qualifications

  • BS / MS Degree in Sensory Science, Food Science, Statistics, or another related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in sensory analysis a plus
  • Panel training experience a plus
  • Experience conducting consumer testing
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis (xlstat a plus)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel, word, and PowerPoint is required
  • Report writing and good communication skills are required
  • Proven success multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of ownership and professional commitment
  • Working knowledge of Compusense, Red Jade, SIMS or other sensory software
  • Ability to listen to people
  • Influence others with research and documentation to back it up
  • Can talk the talk in a technical capacity as well as to those in non-technical audience
  • Have patience to analyze sensory results with accurate methods and interpret accordingly
  • You have the ability to create and manage trained panels, and manage tests
  • Good personality to lead and guide iterations and be a part of building market-winning products
  • You like to see projects through the finish line and appreciate that sense of completion
  • Think outside the box to identify methods to answer research questions, and designing, organizing and working with cross-functional team members
  • Self-assured in your accuracy and guidance to R&D project leaders to keep product launches on target
  • Lend your hand to sensory continuous improvement techniques to help improve sensory transitions to new products
