This role requires 5 to 15 years of progressively responsible experience WORKING AS AN HR GENERALIST OR SENIOR HR GENERALIST WITH LEAN MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE IN A UNION FOOD OR CPG MANUFACTURING PLANT.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed Bachelor's degree required.
  • Between 5 to 15 years of progressively responsible Sr. HR Generalist experience in a unionized  food of CPG manufacturing company and be working in such a role now and have good career stability.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Manufacturing environment experience is required.
  • Experience with lean methodologies strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS systems (SAP) and MS office.
  • Ability to implement change.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work in a self-directed and fast-paced work environment.
  • PHR Certification a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English capabilities a plus.
  • Must have experience in a lean-manufacturing company and be familiar with lean manufacturing processes.
  • Must have legal right to work permanently (now and in the future) in the U.S. without sponsorship of any type.
  • Must live within a commutable distance of one hour or less of the Ames, Iowa, area or be able to relocate to that area with relocation assistance in a timely fashion of one month or less.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the HR Manager in administering the Collective Bargaining Agreement, answering grievances, troubleshooting labor issues and partnering with labor leadership.
  • Assist the HR Manager with analyzing the data on employee turnover, employee satisfaction surveys, exit interviews and other metrics to enhance and improve HR programs and services.
  • Administer and interpret company policies and collective barraging agreement in relation to employee questions, complaints and suggestions.
  • Provide significant contributions and expertise in the areas of employee engagement and retention.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and exercise good judgement and discretion in handling information.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership through coaching, counsel to improve relationships, build morale and improve hourly retention.
  • Support and coordinate engagement activities.
  • Contribute to key projects to improve program performance.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 15 years of HR Generalist experience with at least 2+ years of Labor Relations experience is required.
  • Strong ability to manage ambiguity in investigating employee and labor relation situations.
  • Ability to formulate a successful partnership with labor leadership.
  • Previous plant and/or union experience is required.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work in a self-directed, and fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing culture shifts.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
