General Purpose:

Function as an HR partner to the plant leadership team and deliver HR programs and processes that support DFA&##39;s business strategy and values. Deliver business aligned, value adding solutions across a range of HR areas including talent management, learning and development, benefits, compensation, employee engagement, safety, employee relations, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and strategic workforce planning.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide input to and deliver on the operational HR plan for the facility
  • Influence and build relationships with leaders at the facility to reinforce HR&##39;s position as a trusted advisor to the business
  • Provide coaching and support to leaders to drive performance that enables the delivery of superior outcomes
  • Provide guidance and feedback to leaders to reinforce the desired behaviors that will build the culture
  • Work with the business to identify and deliver actions that will drive an increase in employee engagement
  • Oversee payroll and coordinate temporary employee weekly payroll with staffing vendor
  • Support leaders to have strategic talent and succession discussions to meet their groups needs
  • Coordinate the non-exempt employee recruitment and hiring process. Partner with Corporate HR group for recruiting process of exempt staff. Manage temporary staffing placement and labor reporting
  • Coordinate enrollment of employees in the DFA benefits plan
  • Serve as a resource for employees with questions regarding DFA&##39;s policies and procedures
  • Ensure union contract compliance. Provide guidance and direction to management on employee and labor relations issues and disciplinary actions. Escalate issues to the ER team, recommend appropriate action and resolve complex cases and disputes, when required
  • Process all terminations and disciplinary actions
  • Function as representative for unemployment hearings, grievances, arbitrations, and contract negotiations
  • Process all leave request and FMLA/ STD documentation
  • Deliver the annual performance and development process. Coach leaders on the performance planning and review processes including goal setting and giving effective feedback
  • Coordinate the annual compensation and bonus review following the DFA framework and deliver within budget
  • Manage and administer employee orientation, training, development, Dairy University training, and continuing education
  • Manage and assist in annual employee welfare, wellness, and health screening
  • Handle employment and compliance to regulatory concerns
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Labor Standards, drug free workplace, equal opportunity employer, and Affirmative Action Plan Annual reporting
  • Plan, organize, direct, and control safety policies and procedures in coordination with the DFA Risk Management Program
  • Administer all plant safety programs; conduct and/or coordinate all required annual refresher training programs, drills, program audits, and updates
  • Maintain all safety, medical, and injury related employee records while meeting all Federal, State, Local, and Company requirements
  • Diligently manage worker&##39;s compensations cases from initial report and investigation through case closure
  • Function as company liaison for regulatory agency inquiries and visits such as OSHA and DFA risk management personnel
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve safety conditions by implementing effective loss control measures to reduce accidents and injuries, conducting safety meetings and developing and recommending new safety and health policies as needed. Analyze loss run reports and make recommendations for improving safety records. Identify and coordinate light duty assignments
  • Ensure plant meets current regulatory and corporate requirements through corporate HR/safety program
  • Ensure safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
  • Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
  • Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Ensure availability to respond to emergencies or other unexpected operational requirements (i.e., nights, weekends, or holidays)
