The Human Capital Coordinator assists with recruitment, payroll, benefits, training, employee relations and special projects. This position conducts phone screens, interviews new hire orientations, maintains personnel and department files and prepares and updates department reports. The Human Capital Coordinator provides backup assistance to the Human Capital Business Partner. This position understands and completes all job responsibilities in accordance with federal and state compliance regulations and laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate hourly recruitment
  • Obtain a job requisition for all open positions and ensure proper approvals/justifications.
  • Post open positions internally and externally.
  • Prescreen applications and resumes.
  • Phone screen qualified candidates.
  • Maintain applicant-tracking database for each candidate and position.
  • Coordinate interviews with the Supervisors/Managers.
  • Create offer letter(s).
  • Extend job offers to candidates.
  • Conduct background checks.
  • Schedule pre-employment screenings (DOT/Non-DOT drug test, audio, and Functional Capacity Exam (FCE)).
  • Coordinate start date and new hire orientation paperwork.
  • Conduct new hire orientation.
  • Close out job(s) in Workday and send rejection letters to candidate(s).

  • Assist in reviewing and distributing information to inform employees regarding benefits and training programs including: unemployment compensation, insurance, leave time (FMLA), retirement plans, cafeteria plan benefits, continuation of benefits (COBRA), leadership training and the random drug testing program.
  • Responsible for workers' compensation follow up with safety professional regarding injury return to work dates.
  • Create and maintain personnel records for current and terminated employees.
  • Track absences for employees and follow up with Supervisors/Managers.
  • Assist HCBP with general human capital functions.
  • Assist with payroll processing and check distribution if applicable.
  • Researches and performs work on special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain employee anniversary and employee recognition programs.
  • Understanding of and compliance with all Quality Assurance policies, and immediate reporting of any potential food safety issues to management.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve on committees as needed.
  • Be accessible and responsive to the human capital needs and concerns of employees and management. Human Capital decisions administered soundly and consistently with policies and in compliance with appropriate laws.
  • Effectively communicates and develops good working relationships with all employees and applicants.
  • Professional workplace appearance, conduct, honesty and integrity in all employee and applicant communications required.
  • Has a full understanding of policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Stays current in field and utilizes that information where applicable.
  • Seeks out and participates in appropriate training and professional development.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol
    • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
    • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
    • Support safety policies and programs.

Education Required:
  • Associate's Degree in Human Resources/Human Capital or another related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience Required:
  • Minimum two (2) years of Human Capital experience preferred.

Certification/Licensure Required:
  • None

Skills Required:
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook and field-specific software.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Demonstrate attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with executives, managers, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the organization.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management and coworkers.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Decisions administered soundly and consistently with policies and in compliance with appropriate laws and regulations.
  • Dedication to meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; acts with customers in mind.
