Position: Housekeeper

Location: Bering Sea; Pacific Ocean; Gulf of Alaska; Aleutian Islands

Reports To: Chief Steward

Overview:

North Star Fishing is hiring Housekeepers to work on it&##39;s new vessel the North Star that will begin fishing in 2021. Housekeepers work aboard at-sea processing vessels in the Bering Sea, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands. They maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene of all public areas, crew quarters and accommodations and clean laundry and linens as per assigned schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean crew cabins including bathrooms, empties garbage, dusting and vacuuming
• Clean crew lounge, public restroom, changing room and other public areas as assigned
• Vacuum floors daily, mop as needed, strip and wax as scheduled
• Wash and clean walls, ceiling and lamps as scheduled
• Maintain and organize storage and linens
• Change sheets and towels per schedule and instructions
• Keep laundry machines running
• Fold clothes neatly and pack nicely
• Drop off clean laundry to appropriate rooms

Physical Ability and Skills:

• Work 16 hours per day, 7 days a week in all kinds of weather conditions
• Understand instructions and safety rules in English
• Board and exit vessel without assistance by climbing up and down a gangway or Jacob&##39;s ladder
• Capable of climbing and descending steep stairs and vertical ladders
• Be away from medical attention for up to 3 months
• Share spaces with others including crew quarters, dining areas and bathrooms

Qualifications:

• Housekeeping experience on a fishing vessel or cruise ship preferred.
• 6+ months experience as a housekeeper preferred.
• Able to communicate effective in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Able to read instructions and labels in English.
• Strong attention to detail.
• A self-starter who is motivated and able to attain housekeeping schedule.
