Each summer we welcome over 30 interns across our organization in multiple facets of the business. We are searching for a college student or recent college graduate to join our team as a Food Safety / Quality Assurance Intern for our Millsboro, DE complex for Summer 2021. Internship Objective
To provide a meaningful work experience over a period of 10 weeks which is mutually beneficial to the Company and the successful intern candidate. Interns will be assigned a mentor and a project to be completed during their assignment. Interns will perform additional assignments; however, completion of the project will be the primary objective for the work experience.

Job Requirements
Primary Project: Assist food safety, quality assurance, operations management with several technical subject matter areas associated with the Millsboro and Selbyville, DE processing plants, corporate microbiology laboratory and some labeling assignments.
  • Meet the operations, purchasing, quality assurance, laboratory, shipping, freezer, and accounting teams
  • Review and understand current processes around HACCP documentation and verification, antimicrobial systems, reporting and connection to microbiology test results.
  • Learn and understand the opportunities around foreign materials, what previous processes have been implemented and assist in identifying where change may be needed.
  • Focus on one area that could impact reducing foreign materials
  • Analyze and process map areas including live receiving through second process and finished products
  • Be engaged in the production and quality assurance environments and processes
  • Final presentation on improvements at the end of the internship that had an impact and what the intern learned
  • Partner with appropriate personnel throughout the summer to receive support, tools, training, and implementation of processes as needed
Required Skills
  • Ability to be adaptable to different cultures and environments quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment where there may be changes in temperatures
  • Fluent in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word
  • Work in a team environment, introduce new concepts, create ideas and be a visionary
  • Positive attitude, willingness to ask questions and learn, and work with the management and hourly workforce
  • Self-motivated and accepting of challenges
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree at an accredited College or University

Internship Type: On-Site
Compensation: $15.00/hour
Schedule: Day Shift, Monday - Friday (Varying Hours)
