Harper Associates has been retained by Chelsea Milling Company to identify a Flour Mill Department Manager. Jiffy Mix is the ##1 selling dry baking mix nationwide, and the company is continuously improving the plant and processes to keep up with increasing demand. Sales have never been higher!

Chelsea Milling Company is a family-owned company that has been making Jiffy Mix since 1930 and has stood the test of time, never once having to lay off employees due to an economic downturn. The leader in prepared baking mixes, Jiffy has dominated the grocery/retail market, and the company is now offering Jiffy Mix to the foodservice and restaurant business! The Flour Mill Department Manager will oversee the entire flour milling process, including wheat receiving, testing, storage, outloading by-products, and flour production.

  • Immerse in the company's culture of interdependent communication and decision making. Must be able to listen and understand varied points of view in CMC's flat organization structure, where status, power, and authority are de-emphasized
  • Work cross-functionally with the Operations, Procurement, Scheduling, and Logistics departments to maximize the efficient operation of the overall flour milling process
  • Communicate with, train, and involve employees on ideas for process improvements
  • Oversee consistent application of quality, safety, and productivity throughout the flour milling process
  • Maintain accurate records on maintenance, orders, grain and flour inventories, spare parts, lab reports, and daily production
  • Coordinate and direct process, equipment, and facility improvements with Engineering, Maintenance, and outside resources
  • Demonstrate strength of character to persevere through obstacles and meet goals
  • Lead the team by example and provide constructive counseling & coaching to continuously develop employees


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in milling operations
  • Milling Science certification from IAOM or AIB preferred
  • Understand flour milling software
  • Experience leading a team of millers
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
