JOB TITLE: Financial Analyst - Materials

REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Planning & Analysis Milk, Risk and Supply Chain

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting with financial planning & analytics relating to materials management, this role will be the main support for materials usage forecasting and accurately and timely forecast the future usage of dairy solids. In addition, this role will help maintain analytics capability and will be the secondary FP&A support to the materials management of the organization. Will assist all short and long-term financial forecasting, must be adept and add value to the organization s ability to evaluate the economic implications of milk solids forecasting and usage in pursuit of the goal to be the best performing organization in the dairy industry.

  • Tracks and forecasts financial status of initiatives impacting material costs
  • Tracks financial performance related to material costs, provides analysis and commentary versus budget/base business and provides feedback on financially beneficial alternatives.
  • Maintains forecasting models.
  • Provides support for financial activities within Member Milk, Risk Management, & Supply Chain Groups
  • Drives ad hoc financial reporting requests in support of supply chain as needed or requested
  • Implements self-service access to data for functional analytics related to the supply chain and assures accuracy of data for the entirety of supply chain functions
  • Maintains the requirements and deliverables related to all supply chain ad-hoc reporting and analysis assuring accuracy and consistency in both the providing of and the delivery of the analysis
  • Drills into risks and opportunities within the supply chain and communicates them to the supply chain team

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

The following are required competencies of the position that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Computer Skills:Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position. Proficiency in Excel required. Prior experience with Board financial software and/or Oracle R12 is a plus.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies and various documentation, paying attention to grammar. Ability to process routine reports and correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to develop predictive models that reflect company outlook at a point in time and be measurable for accuracy to enable improvement over time.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other Skills & Abilities:Requires a strong financial analysis foundation of analytical skills including building models, online market research, forecasting and modeling. Must possess outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills. Strong people skills, ability to work at all levels and with a variety of backgrounds. Must be a self starter with ability to streamline functions, desire to learn and grow, with ability to demonstrate skills in critical reasoning and process design/development. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines. Must have the ability to drive a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver s license.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate.
  • Protective Equipment This position may need personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the job being performed, such as hearing protection, food safety clothing and other.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

This position requires a bachelor s degree in finance, accounting, or related quantitative/technical discipline and one to three years of job-related analytical experience. Experience in the dairy industry and/or manufacturing is beneficial.
