Overview & Responsibilities

General Mills is seeking to hire a strategy professional to join our Corporate Strategy team. General Mills recently declared a new vision to be the Undisputed Leader in Food and introduced a new Accelerate strategic framework. The Corporate Strategy team supports the CEO and senior business leaders to drive the Accelerate strategy and advance initiatives key to General Mills&##39; future growth. The team leads project-based work with a highly collaborative approach. The role has high external orientation and offers the opportunity for enterprise-level impact and exposure to different parts of the business through a variety of project experiences. The ideal candidate will have experience in strategy consulting and have demonstrated the ability to influence at the most senior levels of an organization.

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop and advance enterprise strategy including leading key initiatives
  • Make adjustments to existing strategies based on new learning/changes in the competitive environment
  • Identify and deconstruct business issues and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses and influence enterprise decisions
  • Lead internal and external project teams which are typically cross-functional in nature
  • Perform analysis informed by external consumer, competitive, and macroeconomic / geopolitical trends
  • Prepare "executive ready" project deliverables and manage communication with key stakeholders



  • MBA
  • Approximately 4+ years post-MBA, including 2+ years of experience at either a strategy consulting firm (Bain, BCG, McKinsey, etc.) or in a corporate strategy role
  • Experience working in the context of a large, complex, global organization, where working across boundaries and leading through influence are keys to success
  • Experience managing internal and external cross-functional teams and partnering with multiple business functions
  • Strategic mindset with strong critical thinking skills and ability to craft compelling business cases
  • Highly analytical, logical, structured problem solver
  • Comfort with navigating ambiguity and with being constantly challenged/stretched
  • Excellent communicator (both oral and written)
  • Strong business partner


  • Experience in consumer packaged goods industry, including understanding of market, customer, competitor and innovation trends (may include food, packaged goods, or personal care)
  • Global perspective, ideally with experience working outside of the U.S.
  • Decisive thought leader with ability to influence to action
  • Thrive in a collaborative, dynamic work environment
  • Proven developer of people
