Job Description:

  • Responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation of the factory onboard vessel.
  • Determines the number and type of personnel for each trip and shift, works with HR to manage effective and efficient rotations of factory crew.
  • Observes the status of the catch being made and after conferring with other ship personnel determines daily production plans that are consistent with company and vessel production plan.
  • Inspects the production at different stages and resolves technical, quality and/or personnel problems.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining quality control and production records.
  • Ensures that all factory personnel have been properly trained regarding safety, quality, and operation of equipment in the factory.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable sections of the Safety Management System. Is knowledgeable and conversant on applicable policies and procedures contained in the SMS.
  • Conducts weekly safety inspections in conjunction with vessel Captain, Chief and Mates, and works effectively with vessel leadership team to establish, maintain and promote SMS procedures, policies and system implementation.
  • Ensures that factory personnel have available necessary supplies, protective equipment and clothing to perform their job duties.
  • Performs other duties including record keeping and factory crew management in accordance with company policies and regulations.
  • Responsible for understanding and enforcing all company policies regarding factory crew
  • Conducts job observations on assigned crewmembers to ensure standardized training requirements are met; provides recommendations and feedback on performance.
  • Conducts Processors evaluations of job performance and provides disciplinary actions as necessary, with assistance from Assistant Foremen and Leads.
  • Tracks inventory and orders all factory consumables.
  • Plans, prepares and participates in all maintenance and upgrades to factory equipment.
  • Manages and schedules crew to work during shipyard on factory projects.
  • Reports all deficiencies/abnormalities in factory equipment to engineering staff in a timely manner.
  • Attends customer visits and meetings as requested.

Training Required:

  • Drill Instructor
  • HAZWOPR-3 day, annual 1 day OSHA LOT+ Autorized
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Forklift
  • Rigger/Signalman
  • Cold Water Survival
