A leading manufacturer has an outstanding career opportunity for a well-rounded Environmental Health and Safety Manager to manage its overall safety program. 


  • A minimum of 5+ years progressive professional EH&S experience in a Food Manufacturing setting including management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety or Engineering discipline or related field required.
  • Strong professional working knowledge of environmental, health, safety, security and process safety regulations and government compliance requirements, preferably in New Jersey.
  • Experience conducting accident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Knowledge and ability to direct and implement all safety training programs required under 29CFR1910 and /or related to the functional requirements of the position.
  • Perform Risk Assessments &Job Hazard Analysis.
  • A proven record of positive and continuous results in Accident Prevention.
  • Ability to motivate and achieve organizational results through others.
  • OSHA Certified
  • Experience managing Safety Programs/Committee.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) both not required but either highly preferable.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Incumbent will possess a strong floor presence within the plant.
  • Required to develop and implement all necessary safety and training programs.
  • Ensures that all employees follow all applicable environmental, health, safety and security guidelines.
  • Works closely with maintenance coordinating all necessary environmental and safety repairs.
  • Provides shift leadership to develop a culture that achieves a safe proactive work environment.
  • Skillful verbal and written communication both laterally and up/down the chain of command.

Required Skills:

  • Candidate will be qualified train and write programs for:
    • First Aid/CPR
    • Confined space entry including emergency rescue
    • Atmospheric testing procedures
    • Hazard Communications and MSDS
    • Respiratory Protection
    • Forklift Safety
    • Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing
    • Fire Safety, Prevention and Protection
    • Fall Protection, Scaffolding and Elevated Work
    • Ladder Safety
    • Lockout/Tagout Safety

Additional Requirements:

  • Proven results leading and building a strong safety culture
  • Experience in 5S and other continuous improvement tools
  • Strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills
  • Professional demeanor, leads by example, and is self-motivated
  • Excellent problem solving, and communication skills is a must.
  • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Must be able to complete all the above and any other duties as assigned by management.
