MWC will be opening a state of the art cheese and whey production facility in St. Johns, MI. MWC is a joint venture between Glanbia Nutritionals, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), and Select Milk Producers Inc. (Select). Job Summary

Directs and coordinates activities of environmental programs and the operation and treatment of water and wastewater by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel

Essential Functions

  • Ability to operate and lead a team of operators with a UASB treatment system for a dairy processing plant.
  • Prepare, review, and update environmental investigation reports.
  • Design projects leading to environmental protection, such as water reclamation facilities, air pollution control systems, and operations that convert waste to energy.
  • Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical support for environmental remediation projects and legal actions.
  • Analyze scientific data and do quality-control checks.
  • Monitor the progress of environmental improvement programs.
  • Inspect industrial programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Communicate with government agencies about industrial permits, plans for improvement, design changes.
  • Effectively communicating with peers and direct reports to develop collaborative solutions.
  • Writing, reviewing, and providing clear, concise input for internal and external correspondence and technical reports.
  • Managing deliverables to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Construction observation and site visits.
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Conduct hazardous-waste management studies in which they evaluate the significance of the hazard and advise on treating and containing it.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses, and upholds the culture of MWC non-negotiables.

  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor&##39;s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental engineering specialty or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of water or wastewater engineering experience required.
  • Previous consulting experience serving municipal and state clients preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Involvement in professional society organizations, community organizations, or other leadership roles with volunteer organizations preferred.
  • Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and participating in diverse teams preferred.
  • Working knowledge of air permitting, RCRA, GHG, Sustainability.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly involves talking or listening, standing and walking, and the use of hands and fingers.
  • Frequently involves sitting, and reaching with hands and arms
  • Occasionally involves crouching, stooping, kneeling, and/or climbing or balancing.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items works with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.
  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e., manufacturing equipment).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat, and fumes, and toxic chemicals.
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.

Travel Requirements

Minimal overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.
