The position of Instrumentation & Control Technician will work in close liaison with the Shift Team Leaders and other personnel in the Gurnee Plant. The successful incumbent will be responsible to insure process I&C Systems function properly to achieve production goals; identify and perform the necessary tasks, skills, resources and acceptable criteria to perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities in the safest manner, the shortest time, at the least cost and in such a manner as to allow assets to run reliably in a demanding performance/results oriented environment. Examples of Instrumentation to be calibrate, maintained and repaired are as follows: Pressure Vacuum transmitters and switches; Conductivity and pH transmitters, Level transmitters and switches, O2 analyzers and systems, Flow transmitters and switches, Temperature/Humidity transmitters and switches, and Valve/damper actuators, solenoids and positioners.
The work schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, and will require rotating weekend coverage. Candidates will work in various environments including, but not limited to, the following: control rooms; boiler rooms; waste water treatment plant; maintenance shop; packaging and process areas. Candidates will be expected to operate hand and power tools; operate vehicles; lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds; climb stairs and ladders; wear appropriate PPE including respirators; and use technical measuring instruments.
Candidates must also possess good communication skills, including face to face and written; ability to work with minimal supervision; possess safe work practices; ability to interpret various mechanical and technical equipment drawings.
Performing Preventive Maintenance on Instrumentation & Controls
Troubleshoot and Repair pneumatic, analog, and electro-hydraulic control systems
Perform routine troubleshooting of electrical instrumentation systems
Install & Calibrate Instrumentation & Controls
Work with Maintenance Technicians as well as Operators in troubleshooting problems
Ability to be "On-Call".
2 yr Technical degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years experience with Process Instrumentation
Experience with preventive maintenance calibrations and installation of various instrumentations, including packaging equipment and boilers
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical troubleshooting skills (AC 110-480v and DC 24-110v)
Demonstrated understanding of 3 Phase Motor Control Starters / P.F Capacitors / V.F.D's
Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills
Experience preferred with both Foxboro AI DCS and PLC system.
Experience preferred with the hardware component replacement of Foxboro and Rockwell system.
Experience with SAP preferred
