Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Director of Technical Food Sales for aggressively growing organic and specialty grains business. The Director of Technical Food Sales (DTFS) must be a confident, results oriented, creative professional excited to work in an energetic and collaborative environment. The DTFS will focus on developing seed to product supply chain programs (varieties, traits, customer uses, etc.) with new and existing customers while managing access to genetics with seed manufactures and retailers. The successful candidate will employ a consultative approach to sales and must have superior interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.


Determine and manage seed access business models with initial focus on corn and soy markets

o Private label licensing, distribution, retail, etc.

Negotiate, secure and manage access to seed genetics with 3rd party providers

Manage seed demand forecasting and production planning

Obtain and disseminate quality data from genetics provider and educate farm relations

management team and value-added food sales team on seed attributes

Provide in-person support of value-added food sales team by securing IP supply chain solutions for corn and soy markets with CPG targets

Work closely with farm relations management team to assist in seed sales

Understand and position full value proposition of the company

o Leverage internal programs to support company sustainability initiatives and win business where applicable

o Position traceability, transparency and organic integrity of the companys supply network with customers and prospects

o Maximize the ability to deliver food ingredients solutions by linking needs, benefits and value-added offerings apart from competitors

Develop and engage a network of contacts across the organic and specialty food ingredient industry to identify opportunities, gain access and win business. Contacts may include:

o Seed Manufacturers

o Consumer product goods (CPG)

o Organic food manufacturers

o Food service

Ability to orchestrate and coordinate cross functional resources to identify and propose potential customer solutions

Prepare weekly and monthly updates on business model, partners and market opportunity

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Self-directed and accountable for own results
  • Extensive knowledge of organic and non-GMO seed markets with soy and corn as initial focus
  • Experience with seed strategy development, business model development and demand forecasting
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization both internal and external
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent business acumen and strong negotiating skills
  • Expertise with customer relationship management (CRM) databases and systems
  • Expertise with Microsoft office suite
  • Strong competitive drive and enthusiasm to ensure personal and Pipeline Foods success


  • Minimum of 10 years of seed development, seed sales, and/or IP supply chain development
  • CCA preferred
  • Proven experience selling value-added supply chain solutions into the food manufacturing and food service markets
  • Mastery of consultative selling
  • Proven and presentable track record of previous program growth
  • Prior organic and specialty grain experience is desired


  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • Valid drivers license
  • Valid passport as needed
  • Ability to travel by commercial means, approximately 30%-40%
