Director of Quality Control

The Director, Quality Control will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Quality Control analytical and microbiological laboratory as well as sampling, sensory and stability functions, hereinafter referenced as “the team,” with an emphasis on lean and efficient processes. This position will be responsible for providing investigation support and implementation of best-in-class practices. This lab will be undergoing construction, doubling their size and building a state of the art flagship facility while becoming the first of its kind lab focusing on green and sustainability initiatives.

Detailed Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the team to support the departments and company’s strategic initiatives and goals
  • Leverage team’s competencies and motivators to drive best-in-class engagement, teamwork and effective operations
  • Work collaboratively to meet the needs of our internal and external customers
  • Actively provide development opportunities of staff toward career progression, coverage redundancies, and succession planning
  • Work with our industry partners and scientific affiliates and contribute to the advancement of analytical techniques and method research
  • Implement innovation ideas and continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure compliance with ISO17025 accreditation requirements and other applicable local laws/regulations
  • Liaise with the regulatory authorities on laboratory operations and support regulatory audit preparation
  • Develop metrics and reports to assess performance, trend and analyze data and take appropriate actions as appropriate. Track, report and provide periodic reports to management in support of Quality Metrics. Leverage data to improve product quality and laboratory efficiency
  • Develop capital and expense budgets, managing all expenses related to team functions
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills with experience in implementing quality processes, systems and strategies
  • Strong knowledge of ISO17025 requirements
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with a variety of regulations impacting QC support
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

Experience:

  • 10+ years of regulated laboratory operations experience
  • 7+ years as a regulated Laboratory Manager

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences, engineering or equivalent technical field
  • Master’s Degree in life sciences preferred
