Our client, a manufacturing company located south Hanover, ON is looking for a Director of Procurement to join their team

What you will do in this role:

  • Displays skills of entrepreneurship
  • Demonstrated the ability to successfully lead projects with the procurement team’s members as well as with key business stakeholders.
  • Successfully transformed business needs into procurement strategy through management of purchasing for at least one spends category.
  • Provide sourcing expertise and procurement support in an effective manner.
  • Understand our company strategies and priorities and translate that into needs and integrate the information into procurement category strategies.
  • Provide local content information - including all local tariff, trade and legal restrictions and requirements.
  • Create category strategies and sourcing plans and represent these two mains spend categories stakeholders. Ensure category strategies and sourcing plans are understood by leadership and business stakeholders, and effects are debated and discussed with them as required.
  • Feedback to the Senior leadership team on all supply market evolution and industry outlooks, forward pricing and hedging as and when applicable.
  • Ensure the timely provision of procurement provided financial planning data including budget planning for the functional costs and all savings, price forecasts and cost impacts across all categories needed.
  • Ensure that information related to our operations (trade, tariff and legal requirements and regulations) is provided to the senior leadership teams and respective categories stakeholders.
  • Ensure the Integration of business needs into procurement category strategies.
  • Ensure the procurement department is servicing all plant /production and Co-Man sites, and ensure the teams effectively understand the category needs, applied strategies, new supplier assignments and proactively challenge sourcing activities and specifications to focus on high value returns.
  • Agree on scope of roles and flexible approach to task management with direct line reports at regular intervals.
  • Analyze performance and skill gaps and agree development requirements and training plans for all procurement team’s member. Develop sourcing knowledge and negotiation skills to your buyer’s identified as talent who need to growth.
  • Lead direct reports, establish, and communicate vision and strategic direction, providing business context, coaching, and directing to enable meeting performance targets, including handling all business planning and price forecasting actions.

What you will bring to the role:

  • University Degree or diploma (CPP or CPM)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 7+ in a manager role
  • Direct experience in the food industry
  • comprehensive experience in vendor agreements.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills.
  • Solid purchasing principles.
  • Someone very skilled in negotiations at a large number level.
  • Demand planning, MRP, batch runs.
  • Required work in office, plant, and warehouse environments locally and at vendor or customer facilities as required.
  • On call availability 24/7 if and as required by operations.
