POSITION SUMMARY

To manage / direct all aspects of the Bindi North America US Food Safety Systems and Product Quality (SQF / FSMA in the Manufacturing Plant and FSMA Compliance for its Distribution Centers). Evaluate products and make recommendations for improvement. Provide training and support to Production, Sanitation, Logistics, Marketing, Sales, R & D, and Maintenance Departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

MANUFACTURING PLANT

  1. As SQF Practitioner, responsible for maintenance of the SQF System (continuous improvement & KPIs, monitor complaints and non-conforming products, verification and validating of the pre-requisite and program changes to the SQF System).
  2. Develop & implement the Food Safety & Food Security Program (Allergen, Blood-Borne, Brittle Plastic & Ceramics, Calibration, Business Continuity, CAPA (RCA), Chemical Control, Consumer Complaints, Contract Services, Document Control, Equipment & Utensils, Food Legislation (FDA, FSMA, FALCPA), Food Security, Foreign Matter, Glass Policy, GMP, HACCP, Hold & Release, Internal Audit, Labeling, Management Review, Metal Detection, Microbiological, Non-Conformance, Pest Control, Preventive Maintenance, Product Commercialization, Recall, Receiving & Shipping, Storage, Rework, Supplier Certification, Sanitation, Traceability, Training, Verification & Validation Visitor Policy, & Water Quality).
  3. Develop & implement an in-line Quality Control Program. Identify Quality Control Points (QCPs) and establish standards for the Production Department.
  4. Audit all quality and food safety data, and provide feedback to all Departments.
  5. Maintain a system of prompt handling of customer complaints. Trend YTD complaints and compare to previous year. Highlight those identified as food-safety hazards.
  6. Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) daily. Provide and document training for new employees, and re-training for current associates.
  7. Lead and document weekly evaluation of products manufactured by Bindi North America.
  8. Diligently perform the following SQF Practitioner Responsibilities: Conduct annual Mgmt Review of the SQF System, Review and Test the Business Continuity Plan, Maintain Non-Conformance, Waste, Foreign Object Contamination & Supplier Complaint Log (FG, RM & PKG), Annual Traceability Exercise (Receiving to Distribution), Root Cause Analysis & CAPA of all Food Safety Issues (GMP, Internal & External Audits / Pest Control / Customer Complaints, Non-Conforming Materials & Foreign Object Contamination), Trending of Pest Control Activities.
  9. As Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), develop & timely execution of mandatory adherence to FSMA (Bio-Terrorism Act, Foreign Supplier Verification, HARPC, Reportable Food Registry, Sanitary Transport of Human Food)
  10. Provide support to Purchasing: request for credit and maintenance of progress.
  11. Provide support to R & D: Product Tasting, Substitute Ingredients, and Process Improvement.
  12. Direct Reports: Sanitation Supervisor, Quality Control Assistant. Review quality practices and revise accordingly.
  13. Conduct Food Safety and Food Security Training.
  14. Head of the HACCP, Recall (Crisis Management), Food Security and Internal Audit Team
  15. Responsible for FDA Inspections and ensure Pasteurizer Quarterly Audits are complied to with the NJ Department of Health & Senior Services. Maintain NJ food processing licenses of the manufacturing facility current.
  16. Maintain EU Certificate of Conformance Records of Dairy Ingredients used in the production items shipped to SIPA. Ensure timely filing of Health Certificates with the USDA, and provide certified document to vessels leaving for Italy. Ensure successful annual USDA Records Review & Plant Inspection.
  17. Lead Waste Water Treatment Program: Maintain NJ Lab License current, monitor pH Chart Recorder, ensure weekly pH probe calibration, support annual and quarterly PVSC Audits, submit PVSC monthly water reports, and report pH deviations to PVSC.

DISTRIBUTION CENTERS:

  1. Implement and direct a Food-Safety GFSI-type System / Food-Security Program and compliance with Federal (FDA, FSMA) & State Food-Safety Guidelines (NJ & CA) in both distribution centers by utilizing the quality function of the Warehouse Manager or Supervisor. Program will have the following: (continuous improvement & KPIs, monitor complaints and non-conforming products, verification and validating of the pre-requisite & program changes to the Food Safety Manual).
  2. Be trained as Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), develop & timely execution of mandatory adherence to FSMA (Bio-Terrorism Act, Foreign Supplier Verification, HARPC, Reportable Food Registry, Sanitary Transport of Human Food).
  3. Implement strict guidelines of the cold-chain cycle (Receiving, Storage, Shipping and Distribution) and Traceability.
  4. Coordinate with the Quality Department of all approved Suppliers with regards to Customer Complaints, Spec Sheets and others deemed vital.
  5. Maintain distribution licenses of NJ and CA Distribution Centers. File SIPA NJ License.
  6. Diligently perform the following Director of FSQ functions: Conduct annual Mgmt Review of the Food Safety Manual System, Review and Test the Business Continuity Plan, Maintain Non-Conformance, Waste, Foreign Object Contamination & Supplier Complaint Log (FG, RM & PKG), Annual Traceability Exercise (Receiving to Distribution), Root Cause Analysis & CAPA of all Food Safety Issues (GMP, Internal & External Audits / Pest Control / Customer Complaints, Non-Conforming Materials & Foreign Object Contamination), Trending of Pest Control Activities.
  7. Train Logistics Department on proper recording of data crucial to Food Safety. The Director of FSQ will verify the program weekly. Food Safety & Food Security will also be given. Attend remotely (if not physically possible) all Walkthroughs and Audits.
  8. Provide support to Sales (& Distribution) with timely creation of Product Specs and other requests from existing and potential customers.
  9. Provide support to inbound shipments as well ensuring USDA import permits are current.
  10. Head of the HACCP, Recall (Crisis Management), Food Security and Internal Audit Team
  11. Responsible for FDA Inspections (back-up will be Warehouse Manager if Director of FSQ is not available).

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors Degree; 8 – 10 Years Experience in Directing Food Safety & Security (Quality Systems) in a Manufacturing Environment; SQF Practitioner
