Industrial Manufacturing Company is looking for:

POSITION: Director, Human Resources

LOCATION: Schiller Park, IL 60176 Area (Near O’hare)

SALARY: $150K-160K + Bonus

DEGREE: Required

EXPERIENCE: 7+ Years HR Background in manufacturing with multiple site manufacturing experience.


Job Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the role is to align and execute the HR strategy to influence business success by supporting the HR team overseeing all manufacturing operations and supporting the VP Operations. This person will oversee a team of 9 HR professionals supporting 15 locations both union and non union and reporting to the CHO.

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the human resource function and performance within the Region.
  • Participates in the development of the organization&##39;s plans and programs as an HR leader specifically from the perspective of the impact on people.
  • Translates the strategic and tactical business plans into HR operational plans to enable execution of those plans in the local North America facilities.
  • Develops staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization for positions of responsibility. Identifies appropriate and effective external sources for candidates for all levels within the organization.
  • Develops programs to allow the organization to embrace applicants and employees of diverse identity and thought to permit the full development and performance of all employees.
  • Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps to develop specific programs to fill the identified gaps. Areas of activity will include talent management through proper succession planning programs for key contributor and management positions, training and development programs for preparing employees for more significant responsibilities, and general business development programs to enhance employee knowledge and understanding of the business of the company.
  • Continually assesses the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
  • Establishes credibility throughout the Region to be an effective listener and problem solver of people and business issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of North America US HR policies, programs, laws and issues.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with key department and functional leaders to understand the current and future business challenges, gain trust and build credibility. Understands the short and long term goals of the business including talent & organizational capabilities.
  • Develops an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, team-work and high performance.
  • Actively manages talent in the pipeline as part of the business cycle. Develops high-potential talent for functional roles and exports to other functions.
  • Provides HR thought leadership and tactical support to ensure successful implementation and regular monitoring of global HR programs and processes.
  • Provides performance management guidance to all levels of supervisory and management staff to include coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary action.
  • Works closely with management and team members to improve working relationships, develop employee engagement, increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides guidance and input on department restructures, change initiatives and talent planning.
  • Manages and administers the various HR functions such as recruitment & selection, compensation, training and development, employee relations, record keeping, payroll, and compliance
  • Participates in and provides Human Resources updates to the business segment HR leadership team.
  • Creates organizational development and employee training programs.


  • 7-10+ years of experience in Human Resources positions with increasing levels of responsibility. 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environments required. Multi-site experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, or related field. MBA or Human Resources related advanced degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in assessing, attracting and developing talent to build strong teams.
  • Results and action oriented approach to work to drive performance culture.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to contribute to business strategy and operations.
  • Creative approaches to challenges, opportunities and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated success in leading change and driving workforce engagement within manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated track record in establishing and optimizing working relationships at all levels via excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communications skills to include written and verbal communications. Ability to develop and implement effective communications strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills including the ability to effectively coach leaders, build relationships and leverage resources within the function and across the organization to advance business strategy.
  • Demonstrated success driving difficult change in a highly complex organization to advance business strategy.
