Reporting to the VP, Global Technology Product Services, the Director Enterprise Architecture will lead the Enterprise Architecture (EA) program to develop, maintain and govern the EA across the organization. This individual participates in the people, process, and technical aspects of strategic decisions regarding IT for the enterprise.; implements and manages those initiatives in partnership with technology and appropriate business stakeholders; makes decisions for the organization based on the highest degree of enterprise architecture complexity and through understanding the far-reaching implications across the IT organization; and, turns business strategies into navigable technology roadmaps that can make those strategies a reality.


  • Lead the creation and/or evolution of the enterprise architecture function/program including coordination of an appropriately balanced pursuit of enterprise business, data, information, technical, and solution architectures
  • Lead the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to develop enterprise architecture requirements
    • Lead analysis of the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
    • Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture
  • Lead the development of EA governance structure based on business and IT strategies (facilitates the creation of governing principles to guide EA decision making)
  • Oversee EA implementation and ongoing refinement activities. Directs the development and execution of a communication (including education) plan for EA standards.
  • Consult with infrastructure development project teams to fit infrastructure to architecture, as well as identify when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate infrastructure needs. Identify organization requirements for the resources, structures and cultural changes necessary to support the enterprise architecture.
  • Interface across several IS and business areas, providing visionary guidance in defining the direction and alignment for future projects
  • Responsible for conception of solutions, building consensus and the selling and execution of such solutions
  • Support McCain business strategy in the following three areas:

      • Support revenue generation and cost reduction by enabling faster, smarter projects
      • Shift IT spending from temporary stop-gap projects to strategic initiatives

      • Reduce technology costs and accelerate time to market by facilitating common approaches
      • Flag redundant, non-strategic and high-risk projects before they get funding
      • Ensure IT spending is aligned with business strategy and goals

      • Provide IT transparency for business stakeholders
      • Bridge gaps between business strategy and IT execution
      • Break down IT silos find common solutions that reduce time to market and risk
      • Develop opportunities driving leaps forward that dramatically improve IT responsiveness to business needs


  • Familiarity with basic information management practices.

  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, network management application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations) in a multi-tier environment or five years experience in business analysis or business strategic planning.
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
  • Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements.
  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.
  • Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
  • Experience in enterprise architecture execution in a globally distributed environment.
  • Technical skills necessary to create a vision, roadmap and key high-level components of a business and technical architecture for McCain.
  • Ability to recruit and build strong, customer-oriented team members and mentor them to success.
  • Prior experience leading the change and improvement of a large, multi-national organization. The ability to add value by driving the effective execution of an organization's mission.
  • Multi-national leadership experience.
  • Experience developing global enterprise architecture solutions.
  • Executive level leadership (reporting to a "C" level)

  • Travel: 10-15% as required
