The Demand Planning Manager is responsible for the demand management process relative to those items, brands, families and business. The manager is responsible for ensuring that demand management and forecasting processes, policies, procedures, work instructions, and metrics are executed with excellence.


  • Develop and manage a rolling 18-24 month forecast at family and SKU levels, in weekly buckets, by ship to location.
  • Improve forecast accuracy and eliminate bias from demand forecasts; identify demand gaps and ways to close demand gaps.
  • Leads the S&OP Demand Review Step and executes the S&OP process as assigned.
  • Proactively coordinates with sales and promotion planning to achieve the agreed upon sales plan and attain business goals. Works collaboratively with supply chain partners to develop demand and supply scenarios.
  • Provides or coordinates necessary education and training for all demand analysts within his/her authority. Provides general education on demand planning processes to other functional organizations.
  • Works to develop and periodically update demand planning policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Works closely with Marketing and Sales leadership in identifying forecast assumptions that are likely to significantly affect forecast accuracy performance and effectiveness.
  • Leads demand meetings and coaches brand/sales managers and other participants in improving the meeting process, effectiveness and results. Gains consensus on the latest 18-24 month demand plans using input from Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and the business general manager. Makes the final decision on forecasts if the commercial organization is not in consensus.
  • Develops, monitors, tracks and reports forecast error and sales plan metrics. Employs total quality/continuous improvement tools to achieve accuracy goals and eliminate forecast/sales plan bias. Ensures that root cause analysis, continuous improvement processes and corrective actions are completed and reported when accuracy results do not meet Excellence Criteria requirements.
  • Evaluates and reassess the use of technology within the demand space for relevance and effectiveness.


  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) technical and non-technical information in normal and stressful situations on a daily basis to both higher and lower hierarchy levels.
  • 5+ years of experience in demand planning or business analytics.
  • Background in CPG required.
  • S&OP experience required.
  • BS/BA degree in business or a technical field, such as mathematics or statistics. MBA a plus.
  • Experience with Nielsen a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics and statistical forecasting tools.
  • Prior supervisory or mentorship experience helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex, technical sales, marketing and logistics problems using personal knowledge, (ERP) systems and experience.
  • Experience mapping and redesigning business processes.
  • Advanced MS Office skillset, particularly in Excel.
  • Ability to appreciate differing perspectives and experiences and foster genuine consensus among groups from different backgrounds and functional organizations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in identifying, analyzing, and resolving team and individual performance problems in a fair, equitable and professional manner using a thoughtful, deliberative, decision-making process.
  • Proven ability understanding statistics and data mining.
  • An approachable and engaging personality with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners and peers.
  • An understanding of the commercial and supply chain side of the business.
  • Comfortable speaking the truth.
