Data Architect
This is an exempt position.

Position Summary:
This individual is responsible for delivering data management and integration solutions for enterprise data projects. This person should have strong technical expertise and excellent leadership ability. They will deliver data architecture solutions and all associated deliverables including data modeling.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver projects/work on-time, on-budget, and in a way that accomplishes project goals
  • Able to work on simultaneous part-time projects without sacrificing quality of delivery
  • Mentor team members in the areas of data design and modeling
  • Provide technical direction to assigned data modelers and database administrators
  • Accountable to the Director of Data Architecture for the quality of all data architecture deliverables
  • Work with data warehouse and data integration teams to ensure successful delivery of enterprise data warehouse solutions
  • Identify problems, develop ideas and propose solutions within differing situations requiring analytical, evaluative or constructive thinking in daily work
  • Prepare and present ideas and recommendations to colleagues and management
  • Hands-on development, architecture and expertise with tools in the Microsoft product suite
  • Document systems through data models, data definitions and naming conventions
  • Speak effectively before groups of business and IT personnel
  • Design data marts, data hubs, or any other data pattern needed to support the on-going development of the enterprise data warehouse
  • Provide fit-gap recommendations to teams when designing solutions to new requirements
  • Develop unique solutions to address user data challenges while maintaining standards
Standard Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in applying data management principles and industry standards to design, build and maintain complex data model assets in Transactional/Operational, ODS, Data Warehouse and Data Marts applications
  • Effective communication skills and facilitation experience with business stakeholders to understand organization data needs and capture data requirements
  • Working knowledge of BI architecture, data warehousing concepts, and data integration best practices
  • Understands and can navigate complex multi-dimensional source data business systems
  • Analyzes and translates business requirements into conceptual and logical data models
  • Advanced skills in ER design and dimensional design
  • Experience in Data analysis and mapping, creation and usage of metadata
  • Ability to evaluate DDL for completeness and accuracy
  • Experience in delivering solutions using Agile and Iterative methodology
  • Experience with metadata management discipline and practices
  • Strong analysis and deep problem-solving skills. Must be a self-motivated driver to find out data issues and resolve them quickly
  • Experience in vendor teamwork and working with onshore and offshore partners
  • Strong written communication, verbal communication, and facilitation skills
Educational Requirements:
  • 4-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or another related degree of study
Functional/ Technical Competencies:
  • Experience / working knowledge with the following technologies:
    • Microsoft (Synapse Analytics, SQL Server Managed Instances, ADLS)
    • Denodo
    • Qlik (Replicate and/or Compose)
    • APOS Live Gateway
    • SAP S/4
  • Working knowledge of ER/Studio or similar data modeling tool
  • Previous experience with the Commodity Trading & Risk Management or Transportation business processes a plus
  • Hands on functional design specification development
  • Strong written communication skills including functional design documentation and training material development
  • Strong collaboration skills working with design and development teams
  • Familiarity with dimensional and normalized data architecture design principles
  • Motivated, demonstrates initiative and leadership
  • Able to critically think and be solution-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work easily with client personnel
  • Great organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
