Responsible for Cost Accounting, which involves analyzing financial data, obtained through evaluation, to determine the cost of business products and services. Responsible for performing rate calculations, and for product and cost estimates. Comparing actual cost to estimates, and identifying reasons for variances. Providing detailed reports to the Controller for use in making business decisions and controlling expenditures. Providing financial analysis to evaluate special projects, programs, products costing, etc. when necessary. Lead in developing and verifying data relevant to cost accounting and margin analysis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, Study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  • Preparing, analyzing and reporting weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by customer and SKU
  • Analyze data collected and recording results
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing bid costs to actual production costs
  • Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures
  • Analyze audits of costs and preparing reports
  • Assist in developing estimates of new and proposed product costs
  • Provide senior management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analysis and profitability
  • Maintain the Cost Accounting System
  • Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger
  • Conduct physical inventories and monitor cycle count program
  • Reconcile finished goods inventories ongoing
  • Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

The Cost Accountant Must Have The Following Qualifications:

  • BA in Accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment (liquid food/beverage experience a plus)
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job acquired through 5 or more years of related experience
  • Must possess a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to apply knowledge of generally accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
  • Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering, analysis and reporting
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze, interpret and accurately report data
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ROSS would be a plus
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports

Work usually takes place in clean, pleasant, and comfortable office settings. Some travel may be required.
