Position Purpose

To ensure that job duties that affect the safety, legality and quality standards are addressed. Supports quality control programs to ensure production procedures are in compliance with best practices food safety and quality standards

Key Accountabilities

Applies basic skill and is oriented with equipment and work area. Performs duties and tasks routinely. Adapts techniques to meet special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, file, and maintain records relating to product safety, legality, and quality systems.
  • Become knowledgeable in the requirements of third-party auditors such as: AIB, NSF, Cook & Thurber, BRC, Cert ID, ISO, etc.
  • Ensure compliance to specifications from OSI corporate and those mandated by customers.
  • Conduct audits of procedures used in all areas of the plant.
  • Maintain schedule calendars to stay on track with required committee meetings, training, and reviews.
  • Conduct follow-up with Managers to ensure that corrective actions to deviation are being completed in a timely manner.
  • Data-entry of records related to product safety, legality, and quality systems.
  • Assist with training activities and maintain records and databases of training sessions.
  • Keeps informational paperwork current including: Kosher certificates, supplier letters of continuing guarantee, certificates of analysis, non-GM identity preservation, USDA egg certificates, and MSDS sheets. This will require phone, letter and/or e-mail correspondence with various companies.
  • Data-entry of test results, lot code traceability, line auditing and deviations using Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Assist with various data collection projects.
  • Verify product formula compliance.
  • Cross-train in other Quality Department disciplines to be able to assist with coverage of call-offs and vacations in other positions.
  • This position is also responsible for food safety and legality.

  • Support quality control programs to ensure production procedures are in compliance with best practices food safety and quality standards.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills

  • Ability to analyze data and project trends and correlations

  • 4 to 8 Years of progressive quality experience in a food manufacturing environment

  • Extensive experience in the implementation and auditing of GFSI and BRC standards

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization as well as customers
