Overview: We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager based in the Faribault, MN, facility. The Continuous Improvement Manager shall take a hands-on, collaborative, action-oriented approach to drive operational excellence through continuous improvement of activities in terms of value to the customer and the cornerstones of the company (Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Customer Service). This role will plan, organize, and implement Continuous Improvement methods, practices, and tools for more efficient and effective processes. This role may be required to fulfill production shift manager as required to meet business needs.

Essential duties and responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for creating and implementing the short-term and long-term strategic CI&##39;s vision in collaboration with all the functions at the MN or AZ plants.
  • Lead, drive and manage the lean transformational and continuous improvement efforts with emphasis in creating the CI culture based on loss elimination, total employee engagement and accountability using a phased approach starting with the direct manufacturing support functions and ultimately for all functions of the assigned plant.
  • During phase one, leads and drives continuous improvement efforts on the production floor. Primary efforts include but are not limited to procedures and check lists related to centerlines, change-overs, and start-up/shut-down of operations.
  • Drive the creation and implementation of departmental programs to improve performance in the manufacturing areas using reliability metrics, KPI&##39;s, and four quarters plans for sustainable loss elimination using a three-year passed plan.
  • Ensure plant employees and leaders focus on operational effectiveness and efficiency utilizing reliability technology and loss tree metrics.
  • Create and implement processes to monitor, report, and trigger improvement initiatives to ensure that the CI program is used as the primary way to shape and sustain the Operations Excellence Culture.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of data and information systems to ensure the efficient and effective recording of improvement progress, and the availability of improvement information to all areas of the company.
  • Serve as a leader and change facilitator to develop and collaborate with continuous improvement and lean champions in the transformation to a continuous improvement culture.
  • Monitor existing and new transactional processes for improvement opportunities through lean problem-solving methodology and process streamlining.
  • Organizes the process for improvement to be used within the assigned facility by involving all pertinent personnel to move towards specific company goals.
  • Facilitate and lead lean training, Kaizen events to identify potential areas of improvement focusing on manufacturing and support functions.
  • Promote the implementation of CI tools, e.g., 5S, YY, OPL&##39;s and visual controls and philosophies to effect and maintain a corporate cultural change based on loss elimination.
  • Create and drive the execution of on-going Continuous Improvement training, coaching and development ensuring ownership and accountability of the CI results at the proper levels.
  • Identify and stay current on industry trends and emerging market conditions related to organizational effectiveness, Continuous Improvement, and enabling technologies.
  • Collaborates with R&D to create and implement effective processes to support commercialization and overall project delivery including early management and start up using Commissioning Qualification and Validation processes.
  • Create an analytical culture to improve decision-making and drive efficiency, quality, and profitability.
  • May need to work any shift as required to meet business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor&##39;s Degree or equivalent in engineering, operations, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 5-10 years of professional experience executing large, cross functional initiatives
  • Minimum 2-6 years of experience using a continuous improvement framework within business operations such as lean six sigma or similar
  • Minimum 2-5 years of project management experience
  • Knowledge in lean, six sigma and/or related methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to adapt based on targeted audience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with team members, management, and internal/external partners
  • Values a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent planning and project management skills with strong ability to effectively manage multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously
  • Strong change management capabilities with emphasis on team behavior change
  • Experience using business and data analytics to drive continuous improvement
  • Certification in lean, six sigma and/or related methodologies
  • Thrive in an ambiguous work environment with minimal supervision and ability to make timely decisions
  • Languages - Spanish desirable
