Summary

The successful candidate will gain practical hands-on experience in Continuous Improvement and Operations Management through project work in a manufacturing environment. The position will broaden the individual skill set allowing for flexibility with career options and increasing levels of responsibility. Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Improvement and Operations Management will be obtained through various process improvement activities which may include project implementation, process studies, data analysis, team facilitation, presentations, and training.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Conduct specific process studies to understand the root cause of issues and work with teams to solve those issues
  2. Analyze data and summarize it into meaningful presentations
  3. Build a fundamental knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma
  4. Learn to become a trainer of continuous improvement concepts and methodologies
  5. Co-Facilitate Kaizen events and projects

Minimum Education

  • Junior or Senior currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Poultry Science, Animal Science or related field. Prefer GPA is 3.0 or higher.

  • Strong sense of teamwork with high level of individual contribution
  • Ability to learn new concepts, combine with common sense, and effectively apply to problem solvingStrong communication, organization, and presentation skills
  • Able to communicate and work with teams at all organizational levels from Senior management to shop floor
  • Willingness to promote and drive changeBasic knowledge and interest in the fundamental statistical principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel or interest and willingness to learn
  • May be required to travel to other facilities and plants for meetings and/or business.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is required.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Ability to work for 8 hours or more in a stationary position or travel on a wet, moist, dry, greasy floors which may include metal or plastic grating surfaces with up to 4 hours in a single interval.

Ability to work from various types of ladders and/or stairs.

Exposure to and work in temperatures of less than -40 degrees and 75 degrees with ambient humidity. Noise exposure of 110 db, and light intensity range of 50 to 100 foot candles.

Bending, twisting, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, sitting, and
grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, heights, longest interval of time, objects grasped, and body positions depending upon the maintenance task required. Exposure to chlorinated water (50 ppm, ammonia vapors ) 5 ppm, dry ice, caustic detergents, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, and other chemicals found in a poultry processing plant.

Must use and / or wear protective and safety equipment required for the job.
