RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct needs analysis of plant operations systems/methods and administrative work.
  • Collect and document operations/manufacturing needs/requirements.
  • Evaluate and synthesize technical/data information.
  • Propose innovative operating systems and methods.
  • Develop data and process models to optimize operations process/work.
  • Participate proactively with the Director of Continuous Improvement in pursuing cost reduction opportunities and plant efficiency improvements.
  • Champion continuous improvement process for the site as the SME
  • Identify, evaluate, and track pipeline of opportunities for improvement to include savings opportunities as well as cost and effort requirements
  • Identify, assess, and track pipeline of opportunities for improvement in conjunction with site SHE coordinator(s) related to safety, health, and environmental progress and their impact to cost savings, avoidance, or reduction in carbon footprint
  • Conduct daily review of plant performance with plant team.
  • Ensure the process of root cause and corrective action when below targets.
  • For more extensive problems, identify problem statement and action CI toolkit for ultimate resolution.
  • Perform rigorous data analysis using statistical techniques such as mean, standard deviation, variation, USL/LSL, correlation, hypothesis testing, probabilities, etc.
  • Identify waste streams & eliminate defects
  • Initiate and lead improvement projects using PDCA or DMAIC process with cross-functional project teams
  • Conduct quarterly training with the plant team, including leadership and operators, on continuous improvement techniques
  • Lead monthly Kaizen events
  • Support other manufacturing sites in continuous improvement efforts (up to 40% requirements).
  • Develop and perform cost comparisons of alternate processes, parts, coding, equipment, or systems within operations and justification analysis.
  • Track improvement opportunities and actions requested of the plant, PIT Crew, and outside resources.
  • Collaborates with other similar manufacturing facilities to strive for best-in-class execution across the region and share best practices routinely.
  • Conduct research into the development and improvement of the fermentation, drying, and packaging processes through a project-based approach.
  • Recommend measures to improve equipment efficiency, output, and product quality.
  • Develop and prepare work procedures based on requirements of company policies.
  • Evaluate existing procedures and recommend ways to improve the efficiency of the operation.
  • Create projects to standardize procedures.
  • Ensure that standards for quality and food safety are observed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field of study.
  • Experience in manufacturing plant required
  • Preferred 2+ years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Formal Training/certificate in lean six sigma with at least 1-year continuous improvement experience or equivalent (Black belt most preferred)
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
  • Knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards highly preferred
  • Fluent in French and English reading, writing, and comprehension
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills
  • Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Documentation and organization skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD
