Job Summary:

The Compliance Officer (QA/QC) is a key resource for the verification of food safety and quality programs for an SQF certified site. This position is a key member of a cross functional team including R&D, Operations, and Customer Service. The role requires leading a staff of quality technicians in the execution of quality control releases of raw material and finished product. This role is a contributor to continuous improvement initiatives such as root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and new product or system startups.

Essential Job Functions:

•Quality and Continuous Improvement

•Maintain current knowledge of industry quality requirements

•Set departmental goals and establish tactical plans for improvement

•Oversee and develop all necessary programs to meet industry requirements:

•Good Manufacturing Practices

•Integrated Pest Management System

•Supplier Management Program

•Traceability & Recall Program

•Documentation and Record Keeping

•Allergen Awareness Management Program

•Corrective Action Program

•Ensure corrective/preventive actions are implemented for internal and external customer complaints

•Update and maintain Quality manual

•Update and maintain Quality SOP program

•Ensure policy and procedure compliance across all departments for SOPs

•Identify food safety issues and take immediate actions as defined by the quality procedures in coordination with the quality control manager.

•Manage the execution and prioritization of raw materials and finished product inspections for quality release.

•Initiate continuous improvement actions and lead root causes analysis for deviations related to customer complaints and non-conforming products.

•Maintain quality lab equipment including calibrations and repair

•Compile and report quality KPI to the appropriate parties in a timely fashion to improve nonconformance and complaint compliance

•Collaboratively work with departments on complaints, new product start-up and internal non conformances to disposition raw materials and product accordingly

•Assist in development of product specifications

•Assist in packaging development and compliance

Educational and Experience Requirements:

•Bachelor of Science OR 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance in manufacturing, within the food industry

•HACCP Certified preferred

•PCQI a plus

•SQF experience a plus

•Experience conducting root cause analysis, CAPA, nonconformance investigations

•Proficient in Microsoft office and database software

•Excellent written & verbal communication skills
