What you will do:

This position requires one to take initiative, be dependable, adaptable, maintain a positive attitude and integrity, and work well with others. The Cheesemaker is responsible for the production and quality of all stages in the cheese-making process. This position is responsible for ensuring that the steps for producing a product that meets TCCA’s high standard of quality are taken and notifying leadership when issues arise that would jeopardize that quality. They will record all necessary information used to track the manufacturing of product produces at this facility.

Here’s a day in the life:

  • Cheese Making - Understand the entire cheese making process. Be able to understand, measure, react to, and manage all Cheese make activities to meet quality specifications.

  • Dairy Science - Understands the components of milk, starter bacteria, and other ingredients, and the processing of making dairy products to a specification.

  • Initiative - Job requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges, establishing and achieving goals, and exerting effort toward learning and mastering tasks

  • Dependability - Job requires being honest, ethical, reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.

  • Social- Job requires preferring to work with others in a cooperative team environment rather than alone and being personally connected with others on the job.oting problems with equipment.

  • Self-control - Job requires maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.

  • Adaptability/Flexibility - Job requires being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.

  • Communication Skills – Ability to understand and convey information effectively in the English language in verbal and written form.

  • Technology - Can use devices such as a smart phone/tablet, and personal computer to navigate and operate various applications.

  • Attention to Detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

  • Basic Mathematics & Science- Knowledge of arithmetic and using scientific rules and methods to understand and solve problems.

  • Statistical Process Control - Understands basic statistics and their application in understanding a process and how that process is responding to correction.

  • Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of people, products, data, and property.

  • Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, and Area/Line performance to make improvements or take corrective action.

  • Equipment Maintenance - Performing basic routine inspections and maintenance on equipment and determining when other maintenance is needed.

  • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

  • Innovation - Job requires creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas for and answers to work-related problems

  • Complex Problem Solving - Identifying Complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills you’ll need:

EDUCATION: Formal Cheese making certification and degree in Dairy science/equivalent dairy experience preferred.
