Performance Foodservice, PFG’s broadline distributor, maintains a unique relationship with a variety of local customers, including independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. A team of sales reps, chefs, consultants and other experts builds close relationships with each customer, providing advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection and operational strategies. The Performance Foodservice team delivers delicious food, but also goes above and beyond to help independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams.
The Category Manager position will perform the following duties but not limited to:
Determine the SKUs stocked in our warehouse, ensuring product mix aligns with our customers’ needs. Continuously updates our product mix via regular product category reviews, Sales feedback, Vendor input and direction from VP Procurement.
Manage the Vendor relationships and financial management functions related to assigned product categories in order to maximize sales, profit and customer satisfaction.
Coordinate the merchandising efforts of the products within the assigned product category with purchasing and marketing, resulting in satisfied customers, profitable sales, acceptable inventory movement and minimal aged inventory.
Be the product knowledge expert for the product categories assigned, with a broad understanding of the products within each assigned category. A deep level of product knowledge expected for most of the assigned categories.
Interfaces with vendor and broker community, as well as members of the Opco team including Finance, Marketing, Procurement, Operations, Sales departments and Senior Staff.
Functions as a team member within the Procurement department and, as required, performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Four to Six years of foodservice distribution and/or purchasing experience.
Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Procurement or related field.
Six to Ten years of experience in foodservice distribution, procurement, or purchasing.
