Job Description:

The Richmond Hill site, a manufacturer of aseptically packaged broth products, is seeking a new Plant Manager to steward our continued success in the private label market. The Plant Manager maintains complete ownership and accountability for overall plant operations and maintains a desire to win. Through exceptional frontline leadership, assures employee engagement, safety, quality, customer service, continuous improvement, cost, and production objectives are met or exceeded. Provides coaching and leadership to team members in the areas of employee engagement, safety, quality, customer service, continuous improvement, cost, and equipment reliability to elevate the team&##39;s performance. Success relies on the ability to build relationships and fully engage all employees in business improvement. Performance will be managed by the following critical metrics: employee retention and turnover, reduced total recordable injury rates, key certifications in food safety, quality and organics, case fill rate and on-time delivery, lower conversion cost year over year, asset reliability, and successful retention of improved yields.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Advocate the adherence to all health and safety policies/protocols and promote a safety culture.
  • Lead the development, execution and monitoring of the operations strategy in line with the overall operational objectives to achieve safety, quality and performance improvement and ensure achievement of manufacturing goals.
  • Lead the continuous improvement program to deliver opportunities in cost, quality, food safety and service.
  • Continually coach, direct and train employees utilizing Lean principles. Assess and support work performance of team members on a consistent basis and conduct formal performance reviews as required.
  • Utilize available data including OEE, line speed target, and efficiency and process data to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of practices/programs and improve productivity, uptime and reliability.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
  • Assist in the development and execution of operational and capital budgets, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all plant personnel are operating in compliance with plant and corporate procedures as well as in compliance with all customer and governmental regulations.
  • Through continuous engagement and open communication with plant employees, ensure common goals and priorities are clearly understood at all levels of the Plant.
  • Drive employee engagement, training and development to maximize safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Build a culture of recognition where wins are celebrated as a team and momentum is built to continue on to the next challenge.

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 5 years of food manufacturing, processing or packaging experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in aseptic processing and/or with Tetra Pak equipment highly preferred
  • Bachelor&##39;s Degree in Operations Management, Engineering or a similar field highly preferred
  • Lean/continuous improvement experience highly preferred
  • Avid curiosity - asks the compelling and challenging questions
  • Results-driven with a strong desire to grow and learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding targets with a relentless focus on safety
