Business Unit Sales Manager

Pompeian Olive Oil is currently hiring for a Business Unit Sales Manager. This is a key member of the Sales team at Pompeian. Seeking a strategic thinking eCommerce professional with strong sales and marketing background in the CPG industry. This role requires a proven professional with the capacity to lead and drive sales by collaborating across cross functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Broker & Agency partners, Logistics, Supply and Customer Service teams.

  • Achieve high sales growth targets and manage annual business plans/budgets for eCommerce, Club, Value & Alternate Channel retailers
    • Develop and execute eCommerce strategic annual sales for the key customers, ie, Amazon, Instacart, etc
    • Drive profitable volume growth by developing, collaborating, and executing eCommerce strategies for Pompeians Pure Play retailer partners like Instacart, Amazon Fresh, etc. while supporting a Brick & Click network to enable customer teams success who are managing both store-based and online businesses
    • Collaborate with Marketing and partners to lead development and implementation of integrated Performance Digital Marketing strategies and plans to deliver business objectives. Primary focus will be on driving bottom-of- funnel conversions to purchase, with additional focus on upsell and cross-sell, replenishment/repeat purchase, loyalty, and customer lifetime value (LTV). Collaborate with internal Marketing leaders on plans that drive Ecommerce (as part of the broader Digital Marketing mix)
    • Develop, lead & implement sales strategies across Alt Channels that will grow Pompeian distribution, volume & market share for business unit
    • Deliver profitability targets on all products through effective trade marketing expenditures
    • Champion opportunities, Retailer specific promotional plans and demonstrate an inner drive & passion to deliver long term, sustainable, profitable business results for Pompeian that will provide for a competitive advantage in the marketplace
    • Bring a tenacious, quantitative mindset to evaluating & reporting market insights with a bias toward action in quickly and effectively both internally, with customer & partner agencies
  • Train, motivate, collaborate, set & monitor objectives with Agencies & Broker teams to implement Pompeian approved strategies, maximize sales & profit contributions
    • Properly communicate Pompeian standards, objectives, and policies to customers and brokers
    • Work with agency partners to evaluate Trade & Marketing campaign investments with a nimble approach to adjusting and re-planning to deliver trade efficiencies quickly
    • Attend Sales calls along with agency Account & Business managers to develop partnering relationships and insights-based Retailer presentations to grow Pompeians sales & presence
  • Coach, mentor and develop direct report, Business Unit Sales Associate to execute the Company sales plan and grow the business
    • Work with BUSA to keep Pompeian ERP systems up to date with pricing, forecast, and promotional data
  • Communicate and interface effectively with all Pompeian Company personnel regarding sales activities, customer service, logistics, and production
  • Present a professional, visible image of the company and promote the ideals and values of the Pompeian organization


Job Qualifications

  • A 4-Year bachelors degree in Marketing, Business Management or a related field
  • Five+ years experience specifically in eCommerce working directly with Amazon and other pure play eCommerce accounts
  • 5-10 years relevant sales experience in CPG Industry
  • Experience in managing sales agencies
  • Must be able to travel to be physically present at events when needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Impeccable professional conduct and reliability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak to large audiences both internally and externally
  • A strong business acumen and proven track record of developing business plans & achieving sales targets/driving results on eCommerce & other
  • Ability to operate independently while having a strong cross functional team approach with strong interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and technological expertise to deliver insights and recommended strategies & solutions to drive decisions from various data sources
  • Adaptable to continuous change, results oriented & self-motivated
