To this end, we are posting for a strong Automation/Controls Engineer. This role will be based in our corporate headquarters in Needham, MA and follow our hybrid work model.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

The Automation/Controls Engineer will be responsible for all in plant automation devices such as Allen Bradley PLC&##39;s, HMI&##39;s and VFD&##39;s. As a key member of the Maintenance department, the incumbent will have the opportunity to provide their expertise to a dynamic and growing organization. The Automation/Controls Engineer is also the owner of all data collection for MES, Kepware and SCADA systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain all equipment programs database.
  • Act as a technical resource to a variety of cross functional teams to help improve processes.
  • Recommend component replacement or upgrades when items become obsolete or are at end of life.
  • Standardize components to limit inventory burden.
  • Provide technical documentation and training to maintenance department on component replacements and/or troubleshooting.
  • Maintain building SCADA systems to ensure all are functioning as designed.
  • Continuously improve the reliability of current systems
  • Other job duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor&##39;s degree in Engineering, plus 5+ years of direct experience and demonstrated ability in programming a variety of industrial controls required
  • Strong understanding of automated manufacturing equipment and programming required
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting equipment problems and perform complex system tests required
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AutoCAD required
  • Experience with databases, process monitoring systems and MES (manufacturing execution system) / information systems
  • Experience in a food processing & manufacturing environment is a plus

  • Must have good vision and manual dexterity.
  • Able to sit / stand for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
