Automation Engineer The Automation Engineer partners with various departments to design and develop complex automation projects primarily, but not limited to, improving the efficiency of manufacturing processes. This role acts as the technical lead, and have hands on involvement in these engagements, contributing to software architecture design, development of software applications, and integration into enterprise systems. Essential Functions Modify and deploy PLC and HMI software to support operational changes and improvements on the plant floor. Organize plant automation documentation, such as - PLC programs, machine manuals, schematics, HMI files, etc. into a companywide Automation Vault. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to plant leadership. Work with vendors and internal stakeholders on projects related to automated solutions to improve plant operation, increase safety, reduce cost and increase efficiency. Specify hardware requirements and assist in the software development of systems dedicated to capturing process information related to OEE, FPY, Scrap, Rework, productivity, downtime analysis, and predictive maintenance. Learn and work with internal MES systems to automate job changeovers. A demonstrated desire for personal learning and ability to apply new ideas to technical projects. Understand the function of all line equipment and how they operate and communicate to be better equipped for effective troubleshooting. Recognize potential problems with existing equipment and develop solutions with the ability to adapt to various engineering designs, applications, and process criteria. Assist in safety improvements throughout the plant. Actively participate in a fast-paced, team environment; ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained. Maintain technical skills and knowledge and continuously update them. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 2 Years - Experience in Field or similar manufacturing environment 2 Years - Experience leading people/projects Proficiency in Allen Bradley and Siemens Step 7 programming Basic skills in troubleshooting industrial control networks Basic understanding of motion control Basic competency in instrumentation and controls Basic programming skills in a scripting language *experience may include a combination of work experience and education Preferred Qualifications: 4 Years - Experience in Field or similar manufacturing environment 4 Years - Experience managing people/projects Intermediate proficiency in Allen Bradley and Siemens Step 7 programming Intermediate competency in instrumentation and controls Intermediate skills in troubleshooting industrial control networks Intermediate understanding of motion control Intermediate programming skills in a scripting language Proficiency in, but not limited to: Microsoft Office Applications - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Projects, Visio, etc. Oracle Business Systems Efficiency Improvement Analysis Applications New System Implementation & Administration *experience may include a combination of work experience and education Education Minimum Required: Bachelor&##39;s Degree in Industrial or Electrical Engineering, or other related field Preferred: Master&##39;s Degree in Industrial or Electrical Engineering, or other related field Any employment agency, person or entity that submits a resume into this career site or to a hiring manager does so with the understanding that the applicant&##39;s resume will become the property of Niagara Bottling, LLC.
