Provide varied and advanced operational support to the Commodity Risk Management (RM) function by performing forward contracting trade desk functions, supporting RM team members and management with project and member/customer related activities, researching and responding to questions or requests from members and customers, educating members and customers about the Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) risk management program, and assisting with administrative support activities as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gain an expertise in milk pricing economics and commodity price hedging practices
  • Take and cover customer and internal contracting and hedging orders and supporting hedges for members forward contracts by hedging in futures and options, with customer or internal counterparties and swap counterparties
  • Perform responsibilities within the operations area of DFA Risk Management such as:
    • Executing and recording verbal & electronic transactions of futures/options at the CME or via third party swaps to hedge ourforward contracting transactions , internal plants , and divisions bona fide risk
    • Performing reconciliation functions
    • Completing daily audit of transactions
    • Maintaining CME & DFA positions on a daily basis
    • Tracking and managing working orders execution of even-up transactions
    • Assisting with the maintenance of accounts and databases, including but not limited to TriplePoint, QST, QST Quotes Calculator, Futures Files
    • Assisting with other DFA Risk Management functions as needed (invoices, vouchers, margining responsibilities, etc.)
  • Support the development of QST Quotes and other applications and calculators
  • Lead projects as assigned to analyze and assist in the development of risk management business opportunities such as those in other-than-dairy commodities
  • Stay current on market conditions and translate the information to DFA Risk Management s client base while contributing to DFA market publications
  • Build and manage meaningful relationships within the Risk Management team, across DFA, and within the risk management client base
  • Contribute to continual improvement of DFA Risk Management programs and services
  • Develop an appreciation and understanding of DFA s business, programs, services and philosophy
  • Continue education and increase knowledge of dairy business and pricing, commodity risk management markets, tools, and programs
  • Complete a quarterly review of Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. Commodities Compliance Manual
