Duties include but are not limited to the following: Meeting demands and completing work orders in a timely manner; installing, repairing and fabricating items and components out of metal and various materials; assists other trades personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities, while ensuring safety as well as resolving immediate safety concerns. Must be able to work weekends and over time as required. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Safety is critical
  • 65% involvement with fabrication of required plant supporting equipment’s and associated systems to improve operational efficiency & safety of plant processing capabilities.
  • 15% Complete corrective maintenance work orders, preventive maintenance work orders.
  • 15% Assist other crafts personnel with equipment repairs and troubleshooting
  • 5% Food safety, Health safety, & technical training to employees
  • Fabricates and maintains welds on various items using a variety of processes (manual arc, tungsten inert gas, metallic inert gas, brazing, sheet metal, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items.
  • Preventative and predictive maintenance along with assisting in the trouble shooting and repairs of non-scheduled break downs.
  • Review work orders and preventive maintenance work orders and prioritize.
  • Review shift operations with Supervisor.
  • Conduct Repairs and Preventative maintenance to assigned equipment.
  • Complete required daily paper work and turn in to the active supervisor.
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or new ones may be assigned by Management at any time with or without notice.
  • Wear appropriate PPE- frock, gloves, ear plugs, slip resistant boots, must be able to wash and sanitize hands to meet GMP Standards
  • Complete Certification in Lock Out Tag Out
  • Construct equipment per design drawings, instructions, engineer’s specifications, and verbal instructions
  • Build weldments & assemblies, from layout of raw materials to finished products
  • Cut, form, and TIG weld components using industrial metal shop equipment
  • Use proper welding procedures/techniques for the given task, such as, weld prep, machine settings, purging, and appropriate filler selection base on material grade/thickness
  • Perform production support activities as directed by the team lead
  • Be a team player – collaborate with others to solve problems, offer suggestions to improve outcomes, and adaptable to changes, modifications, or rework.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • High School degree or GED Required
  • 2 or more years of responsible metal fabrication experience.
  • Sanitary / purge welding experience with stainless steel, light gauge materials highly preferred, but not required.
  • Operate equipment used in welding and metal fabrication including band saws, grinders, break, shear, drill press, chop saw, plasma cutter etc.
  • Planning and managing assigned projects.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Adhering to safety practices.
  • Demonstrate good judgment.
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate effective initiative
  • Preferably Bilingual but not required
  • TIG, MIG, Purge Welding, and Brazing
  • Ability to visualize a project from start to finish
  • Use of all metal working equipment
  • Mechanical systems – air, hydraulic
  • Knowledge of USDA, HACCP, OSHA, & EPA Regulations
  • Weld test required to demonstrate TIG welding proficiency and skill
  • Exceptional stainless-steel fabrication skills, including layout, cutting, grinding, forming, fitting, TIG & MIG welding
  • Must be able to operate industrial metal shop equipment – Press Brake, Roll Bender, Iron Worker, Automatic Band Saw
  • Industrial plumbing skills – pipe fitting, threading, assembly, and purge welding sanitary tubing
  • Ability to work with other materials, such as, aluminum, composites, plastics is desirable
  • Basic working knowledge of industrial electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Basic mechanic skills to assemble components and equipment per instructions and drawings
  • Ability to read a tape measure and use a protractor
  • Must be able to read and interpret design drawing prints and Bills-Of-Materials (BOM’s)
  • Basic math skills, including converting decimals/fractions and derive measurements from drawing reference dimensions
  • Ability to lift 50+ lb. without restriction
  • Able to properly & safely rig large components, and operate a forklift
  • Open minded and possess good problem-solving abilities
  • Highly motivated and eager to work – exemplify a desire to be here, accomplish projects to the best of your abilities, and put in the time required to deliver quality products on-time.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as requested to meet deadlines and company expectations
  • Working knowledge of a variety of conveyors, belting, and repairs.
